"Life has taught us that love does not consist in gazing at each other, but in looking outward together in the same direction." ~Antoine de Saint-Exupery
"Don't walk in front of me, I may not follow; don't walk behind me, I may not lead; walk beside me and just be my friend." ~Albert Camus
These are my two favorite quotes regarding love, for they speak of what makes a true romantic partnership. What is a romantic relationship or love relationship to you?
to give one's heart and soul unconditionally to each other, to share the dreams together, and to walk thru life as one and the grace of god to recognize it when it is given to you
In my eye's it simple. A romantic relation/love relation is when both partners think for one another, act for one another, and simply do for on another. Essentially this would be my definition.

The first is in my very own profile when I wrote it, D.
So you know my POV.

I like this one:
Someone who realizes you're two separate people, and appreciates the differences.

I just posted that one in Aesthetic Voyage. We think alike on this, Yew.
Personally, I believe it's when two hearts beat as one. I've been blessed to have this twice in my life. I lost one to his meds when they changed his personality, and yet we still think enough to parent alike in all of the important ways. I lost the second to death. Both were a match for my life then, but neither would be a match for what I have made of my life now, so I seek the one who would. Someday I hope we find each other, and I have a third chance at this.

I can only agree with the last part of this. I would hate to have anyone speak or act for me, nor would I dream of speaking or acting for another.
"Love, love is a verb, love is a DOING word." Love is essentially and actively showing the person of your affection, every day that they mean something to you.... Love is the sink in your belly when you think of life without that person.... Love is when they say the lamest thing ever and you grin cheesily like a cheshire cat...... Love is learning to live with a man with a hairy back (I renamed them briary angelwings)..... Love is embracing someones weakness and assuring them that they are fine JUST the way they are.....
Love is NOT changing yourself to adapt to another person. Love is NOT painless but should never be a constant struggle. Love is NOT something to be thrown away and if you have it, value it with everything you can muster.

You made me laugh at that one, Tgw. That was good, especially juxtaposed in such a serious post. And I could relate to it as well.
growing old together after a life of trial and tribulations and still getting that shining look in their eyes when they see one another knowing they made it together
Love to me is having a woman that will bring me a Coke when I need one as I watch the game after which she will leave me alone until I ring the bell again.
