lillyrose67eau claire, USA52 Threads 205 Poststhis is for my sister Tamie who has a broken hand and so Im doing the typing...ok she has a question for people with Dogs...ok her dog duncan will do everything but come when he is called when he is off the leash....he is a pure breed sliver male standard pooled.....so if any 1 has one with some advice please tell us....

I used to have a mixed Spitz/Chow female, was the same way. I heard from a few people that some breeds are just like that; if they get a little freedom off the leash, they are off and running, and there is no changing that trait within them. I now have a springer spaniel that will pretty much stay with me without a leash, unless of course the rabbits in the back yard are out playing, then her hunting instincts kick in and she'll chase them. It may also be part of how they were trained/raised as puppies, so maybe a combination of raising and inherited traits will make it tough to impossible to change them.
