sweetowen: I put a nicotine patch on today. No, that's not the cause of my anxiety attacks. But anyway, this is my third time quitting. I'm going to give it my all. I want to be around & be able to play with my grandbabies & watch them grow up to be fine adults. And I don't want them to have to see what my poor daughter saw as my mother succombed from emphysema (sp?). That's a horrible nightmare of a disease to see.
I'd quit twice before for quite a length of time, each time. I want this one to be for good. I'm not going to say it's for my special man... although he doesn't smoke... just a cigar every now & again.

I put the patch on when I go to bed, that way I do not have to get up 3 or 4 times during the night and light up to keep the nicotine levels at their proper elevation..

i have quit 365,000 times in the last 50 years 
that is based on a pack a day and i was smoking more than that i am in the process of stopping only i am cold turkey, you can do it if you avg the cost of cigs to $2.00 a pack over the years that is $36,510 up in smoke plus the added medical cost you can incur does that help you some to quit, plus the being around for you loved ones, it did me

Well, this is day 3 & still no smoking. I feel as though I'm getting stronger at the fight too. When I get the urge, I just take some deep breaths & find something to do. I distract myself. I woke up around 3:45 this morning, though, & couldn't go back to sleep. Went into a coughing fit, getting that nasty stuff out of my body. Now I can take deep breaths & not cough!!
