If she's in her mid 30s, then she IS an adult and knows what she wants. I don't see anything wrong with a man in his 50s being with a woman in her mid 30s. It's NOT robbing the cradle. If he was in his 50s and she was still a teenager, then yes that would be robbing the cradle, and he should have his head examined, but if she's in her 30s, then who are we to say she or he is in the wrong ? I'm a strong believer in, "Age is just a number", but to a point

well spoken my friend....there is more to the arguement...what about the child...? Its the child that has a 72 year old father at 15 years old. this is why i follow up that many woman do not stay with the fathers too long ..so the child knows more than one father .

That is something the child will overcome. Kids don't see their parents by their age, but moreso how much they care for their parents. If after a time the woman does leave him, then it's her loss, and the kids loss as well, but just because she leaves him, doesn't mean the kids will leave him too. If the kids have strong attachments to their father, they'll find a way to see him as much as they want.

Brew made some good points, but some kids do resent that their father/mother is too old to do things with them. When a child is 15 yrs old, and the father is 72, (my father's age), how is he going to guide his child, emotionally, mentally, and yes ... physically (walks, sports, driving them here and there etc)?? In some cases the child is put in a position to look after the parent when they need them most. Some kids do cope, but so many are not able to.

I always wondered if a child that had multiple mothers or fathers was able to cope with relationships that did not last. Sometimes it's bad enough when only the 2 parents do not last and the child has problems. Sorry to many variables for me to give just one answer to your question. grin

Very good points KHD. But what if she is just feeling her biological clock?? She may not be rationally thinking of the father's input other than biological. I admit this is a totally selfish point of view (not my own - just playing Devil's Advocate!)

If it is as above, then she will be yet another single parent (may be nothing wrong with that - I raised 3 kids virtually on my own whilst studying for BNsg and Master of Midwifery - certainly did them no harm and I think gave them a good work ethic - they are beautiful young adults now BTW, no hang ups)

I haven't seen a relationship go all that great between a man about 20 years older than his wife. Including my fathers second marriage. But I still believe that some people can be very young at 70 and some are old at 50. So it is all a number. If you go by statistics not good but anything you work at will work.

I have heard of relationship like that, but it's the woman who has a agenda. At first it seems like
she was interested in the man, but after she got her kids, including the house he paid for, she then dump him. As the saying goes "what go around will come around", and she will get her karma too.

wow....
when people fall in love and theres no age gap when your in that situation and they are adults...

have you ever heard of the quote that says in love theres no rationality?

my have a big age gap between me and my sons dad.
and yes, we are no longer together... but it wasn't the plan.
and its not true that women don't stay with their men...
in my case, he cheated on me with an even younger girl...

so...he should be smart enough to know that he'll have to get up 4 times a night and yes he'll maybe be in diapers at his kids wedding lol

good night all
cheers
