People come on here for lots of reasons, and you are right, its a good social tool. Depends what you are after, really.
Im not really into the word game side of things, but that doesnt mean they are a waste of time, whatever floats your boat - it still makes you visible on the forums, and raises your profile. I'm personally on here to hopefully find that special guy, and I have had some nice romantic experiences here already, and I have also made lots of friends, both male and female.
As long as you gain pleasure from being on here, thats the most important thing, I would say..
