I'm remodelling a house for resale, and I haven't decided

how I'm goig to fix this particular quirk.

The bathroom light switch, is in the hallway.

It's not a huge issue, if the household is all adults, but those of you with child raising experience know what kids will do to each other, probably constantly. I can hear the shreiking now "Mom he turned the lights off on me again!"

What are some house quirks you have come across?

The apartment we live in has some light switches in odd places. i.e. The back porch light switch is on the wall behind the door. The kitchen light switch is in the dining room. The foyer light switch is in the middle of the foyer.

Nothing like finding your way around BEFORE you can get to the light switch!doh lightbulb

The house we are in has two switches by the front door, one is for the porch light and the other we have yet to determine what it is for. The downstairs bedroom light switch is outside of the bedroom; the dining room and one bedroom upstairs have switches that connect to ceiling fans, but no lights and we have switch on our porch that we cannot figure where the switch goes to.

At one time back when I was much younger and poorer I lived in a combination apartment and commercial building. Below me was an Italian restaurant and down the hallway was a police station office.

The smell coming up from the restaurant has made me not want Italian food for many, many years.

The cops would walk down the hallways like storm troupers liked they weight 800 lbs each. Also it was interesting in that I would open my door and see the cops man-handling some guys in the hallway once in a while.

the only real quirky thing about my house is the toilet in my bathroom is quite tempermental. you have to "double flush" it meaning you have to hold the handle down until everything goes down, it fills back up, and then you can finally release the handle when everything goes down again. it often gets backed up w/ nothing in it so i have to keep a plunger on hand at all times. and the handle falls off all the time. its terribly irritating.

Odd wiring seems common.

Ken, I'll be glad to. Just toss it in the mail.

John, I can only imagine. Just thinking of smelling the same food everyday is unpleasant.

Nana, that sounds very irritating. If the drains aren't ran right, it wouldn't be real easy to fix either.

My bathroom light switch is beside my bedroom door. Believe me
Ocee, you don't have to be a young kid to use that trick.
My adult kids find that extremely funny. Also have a switch in living room that I have no idea what it is for. dunno

Sounds like that's not the norm over there, Ocee? I have always been amazed at powerpoints in bathrooms over there....

Here in the UK, as a safety measure, light switches for bathrooms are either on the outside or, if inside, a pull switch.

Do I have any house quirks? Where do I start.... I swear its the "House That Jack Built"!!
roll eyes doh

No, it's quite unusual here Rose.

Maybe I'll tell them it's Euro wiring code, and charge an extra

$1,200 for the house.

Yup, it was my first thought when I saw that switch.

I'd label it "neighbors", and pretend it turns them on and off.

The dining room in my place doesn't have an upper(ceiling) light, but tinfoil hat it does have a switch on the wall at the entrance. It is a very common thing in NY.

Huh, I've never seen that(I used to be a RE agent, been in LOTS of houses), I think it would be cool to travel, just to see regional building trends.

This house also has an entry light for an exterior door that has since been walled in. The door was at the top of the basement stair and switch was were one would expect to find the basement stair switch.

The neighbor's say they alway know when someone knew to the house goes in the basement, cause they turn the outside light on, or off.
