Wow what a night of intense strong powerful winds

which have been going all night and still now leaving there damage behind.

trees are down here and things just picked up and thrown around the place, what a mess.

we lost power early hours this morning but lucky for me, mine has come back on so was able to make my morning coffee - a relief

but hey thats natures forces for ya, will just have to stay home and ride it out

and dont need to go to work as no power -had phone call

You live in WELLINGTON! It's always "intense strong powerful winds" and rain that is half a degree above freezing ... actually the rain would be frozen to hail if it wasn't in such a hurry to make someone's life miserable.

I think you're brave living in Wellngton.

Yes Wellington is known for its fine winds
but i am actually a couple of hours from main city so we don't normally experience the same winds.

But unfortunely we have had a bad run of severe storms & flooding over the past couple of years, not something that i like and dont want to get used to it.

North Island is getting all the bad weather and different areas, getting hit with either rain, electrical storms or winds.

Where i am, we have got the severe wind and rain and still some parts by me have no power & phone lines not working properly.

Not sure what other areas in nz have no power at moment, my luck it is just in our area, so will make most of it, as keeping getting flickering of power so hope that i am not going to lose it again - but no guarantees

Bring back summer!

Hi Tarns , sorry to hear about your weather you stay indors and try and keep warm, its quite a nice day down here on the south coast ( down from Adelaide ), but we are supposed to be getting storms over the next couple of days

We are a couple of Kiwis living in Oz. We both came from Galatea, but my fathers sister lives up the top of Jubilee Rd. I always remember looking down at the ships in Wellington Harbour and nearly doing a "Flying Nun".

You are getting the weather from the patterns that have hit the Oz East Coast.

The poor old power workers will be out in the thick of it. Spare a thought for the workers.
