After hearing about a recent book called 'Sum: Forty Tales From The Afterlives' by David Eagleman it has sparked my interest to hear what others feel, believe or fantasize the afterlife to be like. Here is a link with an excerpt from the book included

What if, once we die, we find our selves in a room. In that room is a window and a door.
If we choose the door, we are combined with the spiritual consciousness that is the universe.
The window takes us back here. To try again.
But the door looks rather plain, and could easily be passed aside while you explore the room. But the window looks out into the universe, where you can see so much.
It's the greed of wanting so much that keeps brining us back, and maybe once we learn to move past the wanting, we will enter the door and be one with everyone.

Hrm... I like windows.

Maybe the concept of heaven and hell represent the last moments of conciousness, during which we will either pass peacefully or in torment.

Oh oh oh oh...
Our spirits come back.
To enter into that which is perfection.
We work amongst eachother, and those we would have once deemed our enemies, now are treated as if they were family.
We do have one ruler, but she is benign.
Our world becomes shruken down to one thing only, for the good of all of us.
A super colony in fact.

After my creamation, it will be ashes to ashes dust to dust.
My essence will become part of the atmosphere. I will always be remembered.

I find the idea of entombment more unsettling than death itself,

it feels unnatural to me.

I like this idea too. One of the ideas I heard of writen in the book is that our atoms all remain us and so we are spread amongst the environment and able to interact with our loved ones as they are part of the same. There is no proof of any of it for or against so the opportunity is there to let your mind go. Why be restricted by the common thoughts of heaven and hell. We could have alot of fun with the ideas...

I don't think I want my atoms to be interacting with my loved ones.
I have bad images of people I know eating of my atoms, or breathing of my atoms, mainly because they will eventually be excreting of my atoms.

So you wouldnt want to mingle with your lover in a stream or brush past the grasses floating on the wind while you revolve around each other dancing in a quantum world?

I almost kinda hope that I can be a ghost when I kick it
( not that I will mind you, I have plans on immortality)
but if I could be a ghost, I would totally mess with peoples heads.
And haunt some people, some of the time, and when they get those mediums in the house ( tho I hear alot are large ) I would go to disneyland for awhile.

The after life could also be a place where you aren't constantly bombarded with irrtants.
Like where people call food in bread Sandwiches, and not Samwiches. And it's Valentines day, not Valemtimes.
( ok, that' just my peeve there )

Afterlife is our real world as spiritual being. You just continue to live.

Now it depends of your belief. If you believe in Nothing, you'll find nothing.
If you believe in Angels playing harps, you'll find them.
If you believe you'll find 100 virgins, you'll find them.

I can continue a few hours like that.

I know I'll find some people like me, we will continue to prepare ourselves for the next "earth time", to help other people. We will understand with our guides/angels what we have forgotten to do in that life.

It can be quite complex to talk about that....but it's very interesting.

Nothing happens. I'm not someone that looks down on religion or even denies the possibility of an afterlife, but I just don't see how it's possible.

Well without proof either way why not let your mind run wild with the possibilities?

Now that sounds alot more fun than harps and pearly gates.
Although I wouldn't mind getting me some wings.
But.. if you have wings, and end up in animal heaven, wouldn't you have to worry about cats?

grin
