I couldn't make this stuff up. Nobody would believe it. Today, I received word that we (at my job) would likely receive an envelope soon that would contain something most interesting... a portion of the remains of a certain Mrs. Hayes. Apparently, Mrs. Hayes recently departed this life and her loving husband of many years wanted her remains (in the form of ashes) to be delivered to places that she had once visited and loved. Athens was on the list. Sure enough, today we received the envelope. We received a bit of Mrs. Hayes. Here's to Mr. Hayes, wherever you are...a bit of your wife arrived today, and a bit of me tipped my hat to you, while at the same time was glad that I hadn't opened that envelope. Cheers, Mrs. Hayes.
vonney: WowI think thats a brill idea, I have already stated I want to be cremated and my ashes scattered in Crete.
If my loved ones and friends never hear anything else from me, hear this: "Scatter me in the Ionians....let me mix in with the turquoise waters that bring me such tranquility in life...let me languish there in death." Hear that. Please.

Will you be in Crete, Vonney? I hope you have a wonderful time! If you pass through Athens and need anything....any suggestions or assistance of any sort, let me know. I'd be pleased to show you my Athens, or to assist in any way.

I've been to Xania (Hania or Chania), Rethymno, Plakies, and a few other small village areas in Crete, but I've never been to or hear of Stalis. I'll have to check it out! Kalo taxidi! (That means "have a good trip!)

A very interesting story. And may my wishes be followed so well. I loved your poem, btw. Awesome...you have a distinct talent as a wordsmith, J.
