when the skin is some what thin and around bones is somewhat tender,we say that the first few min.,are similar to a bee sting, but you get used to it real fast,,,and for such a small tat,you should be done real fast,,i would think that haveing a baby is a lot more painful, the best way is just relax, and do it

Despite the fact that my father would disown me, I am too terrified of having one done...

Captain said and he has two, that it is like a person digging into your sin with a knife! Enough to put me off.

My one on my arm felt like being slowly carved with a razor blade. But the guy had a pet Albino Python that was draped in front of me, and his friend kept telling stupid jokes ...so that was some distraction.....!

I was supposed to return for the continuation of the "rope" design on the inner-arm flesh, but sort of chickened out for that....

Hey, I found that Black Henna, worked with a very fine brush, does a nice Celtic style tatoo - and it takes about a month to eventually wash off...... if one is afraid of being marked for life....dunno

My grandson says he would like my tatoo to be removed so he can frame it in remembrance of me when I die one day .....grin

I am more afraid of my father and onslaught of his thoughts about tattoos than that, Grannie.

I only mentioned to him once about the odd times I smoked a ciggie, that was ten years ago and he has never let me forget it.

I don't want anymore of those either! Kids that is. I am not a lover of tattoos, I don't think I would suit one. Too prissy, I is.

My question is; Why is it so addictive? I waited years and years and years to get one. I would debate it, think it over, go to the tattoo parlour, leave again and I couldn't do it. I finally had one done a few years ago and have had either another tattoo or a piercing done every year since. Madness I say. But I am a teacher so I don't think it too appropriate to have them in highly visible places. Thank gosh as my dad would have a bird if he saw any of them. I have a wee tiny one on my wrist and the kids at school are quite fascinated by it.

On my shoulder blade I'd love a Celtic or Tribal styled Swan just taking off with the wings deeply set, creating two arcs around its lifting body.

Inside the left "wing-arch" I'd like a Seahorse and the right kept empty for time being.

Still have to find an artist to make the right design; it is all very symbolic:

The Swan is known to stay with its mate throughout life - monogamous, fiercely protecting his family while still offering a grace few can compete.

The Seahorse is the symbol of my wife, independent, brittle but a survivor and unique among all creatures. Holding it under the left arch offers protection to her symbol near the heart.

The right is for future add-ons in the family.

Will it ever be done? I doubt it will, but it is just a mere drawing from happening. The right design will settle it.

Have never thought about getting a tattoo, don’t see any point in it.

I’ve had question “Why do people do it?” But there’re already few answers: ex. Commemorating someone or something. I wouldn’t use a tattoo for that myself, but I understand people who would.
