The most incredible...well, afterwards it feels that way...LOL...I know I did. During pregnancy - I was euphoric, beginning of labor, I was excited, late stages/contractions, I wanted to kill my husband! right after, while holding that new little life, I wouldn't be able to put in words how emotionally high I felt.

mbcasey: Giving birth to a child. Maybe the most incredible experience a woman can ever have.
Can you ladies reflect back and allow us men a few moments of what it was like to give birth?
I would like to hear more about the emotional aspects...what were you thinking and feeling?
How did you feel right before the birthing began? How did you feel during, and then right after?
Thank you for responding....
i have been lucky..........i did it four times and i can truly say it was the most incredible feeling indeed and i am blessed as i have never gone through labor pain and contractions for more than one hour for all of my four children.

How did you feel when your water broke? What was going through your mind?

Wow, you were lucky. Can you go into detail about how you felt emotionally?
With my firstborn,I thought I was dying! I was young and wasn't educated in childbirth; I was in labour for over 12 hours, being my first. The nurses were suuuuuper! They made me feel so at ease, what with my cursing and cussing due to the pain. Although the pain is indescribable, this experience brought my a beautiful, healthy baby boy;he's 24 now. Being a mother is the best feeling in the world. So much so that I had 4 more children.

childbirth hurts yes but you forget that part. As soon as my son was in my arms I cried. That's not new it's amazing seeing what you just made. I can't really describe it in words but I don't believe there will ever be anything that compares.

I guess you and everyone else who has posted can't find the words to describe how wonderful you felt....

my first pregnancy i was very young (20 yrs) had hardly any knowledge of what was happening to me, at seven months i started going through major changes and was told my son was breech (meaning he was in my stomach in the wrong position) his head being up so i was going through some discomfort. one week before my due date i started getting pain and went to the doc and was told the baby turned, but it was not any excruciating pain it was like have a back ache. then the one day after my due date my water broke while i was cooking .............i have very little pain i was able to take my time and get the last minute stuff in my bag called my sister who is a nurse and waited on her to take me to the hospital........i was scared as it was my first child, but as we got to the hospital as soon as i settled i was examined my a nurse and whisked away right into the delivery room five minutes later with hardly knowing what was happening to me i gave birth to a bouncing wonderful 7lb 4ozs baby boy. and the pain was gone... a few days of the usual discomfort but that was it..........and that set the trend in my other three deliveries of my three daughter. actually, i have a story about my second daughter birth .........my husband took me to the hospital about 6am that morning and i got out at the entrance of the er....he went ahead to park the car and i stood there waiting for him but then i felt a contraction and didnt like what i felt so i got into the elevator and went to the admissions desk.........i told the nurse that someone should check me because i think im about ready to born my child anyways i was ignored and told to get into a gown and a nurse will be with me in a minute..........3 minutes later as she came in to check me i was in the middle of a contraction and about to born my baby right there without getting to the delivery room............5 minutes and that was it.........when my husband got to the room he thought i was in the delivery room getting prep, the nurse told him you have a daughter....he was stunned.......no pain no fuss...........its incredible and a wonderful experience for me ............wish alot more women could have experience the joy is such wonderful childbirth as i did
Polarbutterfly: See now you're teasing! It really did hurt!
no i am not teasing, i feel sorry for the ladies but after ward the pain is forgotten when you hold the baby for first time, all i had to do was take getting cussed out and a little scratches, nothing like the birth, my hat is off to the ladies
goldstone: Didn't Bill Cosby describe it best? "Take your bottom lip, and stretch it over your head."
Actually Bill Cosby was quoting Carol Burnett and yes: it can be quite painful! Emotionally during my first labor and delivery, my thoughts concentrated on wanting the pain to end; killing anyone who asked "How are we doing?", and wanting to walk and no one would let me. After 36 hours of labor and half an hour of extreme pushing, my lovely 9 lb. daughter was born. She was huge! The second child was easier to deliver, six hours of labor and no real pain but even he was huge at 8lbs and six weeks early, the third child was the easiest, a little pain, like a muscle ache, a half hour of labor and boom! the little 7 lb was born. Emotionally during labor all I could concentrate on was the act of pushing the baby out, emotionally after birth all I could concentrate on was my baby and how much I loved them; even after the morning sickness, the weight gain, the swollen feet, the craving for odd foods, yup! They were my babies and they were perfect!
