Heroes are the troops in Afghanistan...getting blown to pieces by roadside bombings...so they can erradicate the poppy fields... so the Taliban would not have as much income....
But, funny enough, they ( and all the big drug dealers) are making more money due to dwindling supply that drives the price up...!!!!!!!
There are no heroes left, pal...only useful idiots...

Sorry but after Australia lost 2 more soldiers today there i dont agree with you saying there are no heroes left. What constitutes a hero, does a doctor like we had here Dr Fred Hollows who gave up his career to help 3rd world people with eye surgery, what about people who volunteer for different organisations. There are still heroes maybe we should stop worshipping sports people & musicians
A sad statement, when Mandela proved vigilance comes in peaceful ways too. To me he is a living spirit of a hero and no amount of burnt men-flesh in Afghanistan or elsewhere will change that.

Comparing Nelson Mandela with the Soldier in Itaq it's an insult to humanity...an egoistic act. Those who deny Mandela's impact in this world are ignorant. Even more if you are old enough to have lived all human rights revolutions. I mean, what would I have become if I would have lived in the '60 if even now I'm so pure?
Mandelaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!
Listen to this song, at list once in your life. Don't be scared about the beats. If you're scared, just remember that I'm holding your hand. Now, close your eyes and listen!
PS: I'm not sure that this is the best version ( because I can't hear it ), but I love Johnny!
Asimbonanga (Mandela)!
Asimbonanga (We have not seen him) Asimbonang' uMandela thina (We have not seen Mandela) Laph'ekhona (In the place where he is) Laph'ehleli khona (In the place where he is kept)
Oh the sea is cold and the sky is grey Look across the Island into the Bay We are all islands till comes the day We cross the burning water
Asimbonanga (We have not seen him) Asimbonang' uMandela thina (We have not seen Mandela) Laph'ekhona (In the place where he is) Laph'ehleli khona (In the place where he is kept)
A seagull wings across the sea Broken silence is what I dream Who has the words to close the distance Between you and me
Asimbonanga (We have not seen him) Asimbonang' uMandela thina (We have not seen Mandela) Laph'ekhona (In the place where he is) Laph'ehleli khona (In the place where he is kept)
Steve Biko
Asimbonanga (We have not seen him) Asimbonang 'umfowethu thina (we have not seen our brother) Laph'ekhona (In the place where he is) Laph'wafela khona (In the place where he died)
Victoria Mxenge
Asimbonanga (We have not seen him) Asimbonang 'umfowethu thina (we have not seen our brother) Laph'ekhona (In the place where he is) Laph'wafela khona (In the place where he died)

I had the honour & privelige of meeting Bishop Desmond Tutu in 1997 , it was one of those moments in life I will never forget. I will say yes I admire sportspeople, musicians, etc but dont like it when they are considered heroes .
I truely believe people like Mandela are heroes & regular people who do extraordinary things for no credit are heroes.

In Ballarat which is in Victoria Australia for an event called NCYC ... National Christan Youth Convention.. sadly we had bag searches because of death threats against him. But when I met him , I had coffee with him on a thursday afternoon, he is a very funny man, incredibly devoted to the people not just of South Africa but the world & is one of Mandela's closest friends, he told me how he risked going to jain by speaking out about it from the pulpit but they Govt at the time were powerless because he is an important worldwide religous figure
