Hinduism (Sanskrit - Sanatana (eternal) Dharma also known as Vaidika (Vedic) Dharma) is a religion or philosophy that originated from the Indian subcontinent and nearby surrounding areas. The term Hinduism is heterogeneous, as Hinduism consists of several schools of thought. It encompasses many religious rituals that widely vary in practice, as well as many diverse sects and philosophies. Many Hindus, influenced by Advaita philosophy, venerate an array of deities, considering them manifestations of the one supreme monistic Cosmic Spirit, Brahman, while many others focus on a singular concept of Brahman (God), as in Vaishnavism, Saivism and Shaktism.

Hinduism is the third largest religion in the world, with approximately 900 million adherents (2005 figure), of whom approximately 890 million live in India. It is also the oldest known religion in the world today. Unlike many other religions, Hinduism has no main founder, and no main holy city.. It also has no single holy book — its original scriptures were the four Vedas, but as time has passed, many other scriptures have also emerged.

Hinduism is a lot of things goverened by different Gods and icons.

Buddha litterally means "The enlightened one" It is a way of attaining wisdom.

There views that are genereally accepted as being that there is not just one Buddha.

I think we are on the 27th or something like that.

Buddhism teaches that anyone can be awakened and can become enlightened and that is the only way to Nirvana.

There are agreed to be two sorts of Buddha .. those who teach about it and those who remain silent about it.

But some books on the subject suggest that we will all become enlightened and therefore become Buddhas.

Interesting religion as it works on the person not on the effigy that is God!

Hinduisim recgonizes the difference in peoples personalities and religious temperaments an take a marvelously and ripely practical attitiude to attaining union with the :Atman-Brahman."defined below
4 main paths of "yoga (Union with God) where gradually devlpoed to suit different ways of Imagining, approaching, and enacting the devine: the path of transcendent through knowledge "jnana yoga " I think, then the apth to devotion usually signifies as a personnal god proper name eludes me of theis yoga, "Karma yoga" is thepath of works and action dedicatedselflessly to the supreme, and the fourth i can not recall.
Hinduisim , the name hiundus give to to that ultimate reality that is forever nameless and formless and beyond definition is "Brahman". teh snaskirt word has a dual etymology, deriving at once from 'br'. "to breath" and 'brih'"to be great'he cheif attributes of of brahman are "Sat', Chit'and Ananda roughly translated as Being ,Awareness an Bliss.
For the hindu believer, every human being is one with Brahman in his ao her Atman,(his or her devine self or soul).
the aim of human life is to know the Atman consciously and to live the calm, fearless, and selfless loving life that arises from this knowledge. I hope this helps

I guess the greatest attratcion of hinduism now is that is has kept alive a very full, once near majestic and tender vision of God the Mother, of God as Devine Mother. The hindus visionof theMother(known inmany diffretn aspect and names)has nothing to do with with the largely passive versions of her we meet,an example, in traditional Catholicism. the Hindu knows the Mother n her full power an dglory, as destroyer,as preserver, as terrible as well as tenderas notheing less than the active side of brahman itself, teh force,or Shaki,of brahman, that is the force that crates, sustains, destroys and remake al things.
the beauty of this immense ...cosmic visionof the motheris that itis also one of complete intimacy:The Motheris known as all-lovingas well as all-powerful,totallyattentiveto every thingand beingin creation, and contactable anywhere and at any time by her children.

I had a book handy that explains in easier terms.

cool, i guess i'm just asking these questions because i am starting to feel something in my soul

and it feels empty sometimes but then there is this light that comes into it

i guess it's our choice to interpret what warmth our soul feels and what god/energy we feel is there trying to manifest itself

I don't know why but there is just something about that Jesus fellow and what he did that makes me feel happy...but that Hindu energy stuff is thought provoking for sure

thanks for the feedback folks

confused
