Nice to see Rafa's on the ball as usual...?
You'd like to think that with the staggering sums of money being chucked around for transfers these days, managers would do their research thoroughly.

And it certainly looked that way yesterday, when Rafa Benitez was discussing potential Liverpool new boy Alberto Aquilani.

"I always remember one game - England versus Italy U21s at Wembley, and he was man of the match in a 3-0 win," said Rafa.

Sounds convincing. The only problem with that is England and Italy's Under-21s have played each other once at Wembley. That was the first game at the new stadium - a game that finished 3-3.

We suspect Giampolo Pazzini would be pretty peeved if he didn't get the man of the match award in that one, given that he scored a hat-trick.

And he'd be even more peeved to miss out to Aquilani, given that he didn't play that day.

Good to see Rafa has his thumb on the pulse!

Rafa's record in the transfer market is appaling, i think i read somewhere last season that he has signed something like 80 players since hes been there, thats ridiculous, and how many of them have been a success?
i know fergie made some dodgey signing in the past as has every other manager but Rafa must be the worst.

As a Manchester United Fan I can say that Fergie has made some shocking buys including Djemba Djemba so bad they named him twice lol.

Blanc wasn't that bad really. He just took a while to settle in and he was a bit older so not as quick as Stam before him.

I also think its a bit too soon to judge Ben Foster. Lots of people are tipping him to be the next England Goalkeeper. They can't all be wrong.

As for Rafa, I rarely take much notice of what comes out of his mouth these days. I thought it was hilarious how everytime he slagged off united or Fergie in the papers, they either drew or lost the next match. I mean if you are going to slag off an opponent, at least do it when you can afford to after your team win not just before they drop points. I thought he shot himself in the foot with those gaffes more than once. It just made him look stupid.

Still though....i hope he does it again this season. It will make United's job a bit easier rolling on the floor laughing

Forlan was never really given a good run in the first team though. He came off the bench a lot and ran his legs off but didn't score much. I think Fergie expected him to be the next Solskjaer - a supersub. Sometimes it takes time to build momentum though.
