Winston Chuchill!!!! The man who ordered troops to shoot striking miners and couldn't make up his mind which side of the political fence he wanted to be on? One week a Liberal, then a Tory, then back again and finally when the Liberals were going to lose back to the Tories. Finally getting booted out in 1945 a the war changed attitudes far more than the Firt WW. Not exactly an Englishman but John Maynard Keynes, Charles Dickens, Isacc Newton, Wren, anymore thoughts on this???

i wonder how many members can actually talk about english history for any length of time whilst keeping people of who they're talking about ?

dunno

i went to Aspey house in london once better AS number one londonat hype park , it was given to the duke of wellington for defeating napoleon at the battle of waterloo by british government.
and at the time was the next door nieghbour to buckingham palace.

wow

they have a fancy dress ball every year in the museum part of it , the present duke and his heir still lives there ( or use to about 20 years ago ) !

it would be interesting to find out the story before that famous battle between the british general wellington and the french general napoleon and why britian and france were at war

Wow - Such typical Gilly intellect, and wrong in that Sir Douglas Bader had two tin legs and played Golf long after he retired as a Group Captain after the war which made him even more remarkable.

Maybe it really IS the tinfoil causing heat problems for the Gillybrain after all Folks rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing
