Raven0: I can't help you most of the info you are asking, but I would suggest you stay longer than 4 days. There's probably just way too much to see and do.
thanks..my vacation is only 9 days, including travel time of maybe 3 days. I would love to stay longer, but staying in a hotel for a longer time can cost me more.still not sure what to do.thanks again
In response to: Hi there, any advice on where to go and the cheapest way to explore NY?where to stay?is 4 days enough?
me and my friend are interested to try this speed dating, do you think its fun?and how much is it?
Don't listen to this guy ^^^
You've got to go to New York City. The rest of the state is blah
The cheapest way is to go either to a youth hostel in Manhattan or get on the dorm list of NYU. They rent out the dorms in-between semesters, but you have to check and get on the list months before arrival (5-6 months before travel) because they're cheap and in great demand.

NYC is a great place to visit, but I must didagree with you. NYS is anything but blah. I have been fortunate enough to live in the catskill mountains for a time. The nature and sites NYS has to offer is breathtaking. Sorry you didn't see the beauty NYS has to offer.

Ah pesh... I'm from Jersey and lived in NYC. I've been upstate, driven up to Niagara and don't remember there being any sights, short of Westpoint Military Academy (which isn't really upstate). The Catskills used to be famous post WWII, but that's pretty much history now as well. IMO, it's nothing spectacular in my book. For fab countryside, I'd rather go to CO, AZ, NM, WA, UT. Fortunately we all have different tastes... or as my father used to say: "It's all a matter of taste, said the monkey and ate the soap."

Pesh - speed dating sounds like fun but not worth flying to NY for four days to take part in............ you'd be better off getting to know somebody SLOW dating via a place like this (and then meet a person who is nolonger a complete stranger) than dive into a speed dating thing that could be good or a complete waste of time or just a fun evening of entertainment in a social setting.
Speed dating does sound like a fun thing to do though!
I doubt many people take it seriously - just as a bit of a laugh, but who knows?
I've never been either to 'The Big Apple' or indulged in what you plan.............. have fun!

hi robet, we never tried speed dating before, i dont think it would be serious..aim is to meet new people as many as possible in a short time .we have to find out when we get there. We also have no other plans than explore the famous sites and just decided to do something we never experience before.
