9. do you think you'll always be the same person you are now and always want to the same things ? or just go off somewhere else and live a completely different kind of life ?
10. have you ever thought of thanking or cursing anybody for the type of person that you've finally turned out to be

well my parents had a big part in shaping me for the good maybe some bad but manly my children because they taught me patience and love ... and understanding ...and even now my older ones still shape as i learn from thm just s they learn from me even the relationships that went wrong has tjo a point got me to who i am today
gillyloves69: are you trying to tell us something phoenix ?
I reckon Smoky has an idea..Because what happen in SA wasn't to disimilar to that of the North of Ireland. I'm not getting into a politcal convo..;neither am I going to talk about the alphabet soup of Northern Irish political or paramilitary groups...
But what happened and how I had to live....It's made me more open to other beliefs, I'm resilent, confident....more stubborn, I'm not afraid to stand up and say what I think...thoughtful. I can weigh up the odd's fairly quickly in almost any situation (avoiding danger, figuring out solutions to problems)...

In this past year I went to my 45th high school class reunion. I also contcted some people I havent seen in about 30 years or more. some of those events stuck in my mind as it was a time to reflect. some of the things I have mentioned in this forum are things I havent thought about in decades. I realy dont know if I should laugh or cry when thinking aobut some of the immaturity and stupidity from my past. I had fun, but what a head case. I was so quiet and shy in high school. quite the opposite after college. It has taken along time to grow up but I think that I am getting there. The chaos of my past helped shape who I am today. I now live a very quiet life. Very uneventful. down right boring at times. Oh hell a little chaos isnt so bad after all.

"bet none of you can tell us who or what really shaped you into being the person you are today & why"
1. My genes
2. My environment
3. The 'x' factor
4. Reading posts initiaited by gillyloves68+4/4
Why?
I believe that we are all the product of our geneticv make-up AND our environment BUT also what I call the 'x' factor........... a kid can be brought up in the horrible conditions yet become a fantastic person and another kid given everything including wonderful parents can turn into a 'bad egg'.
In my case I believe I am lucky to have reasonably good genes.
My environment has probably affected me more than I'd care to admit and made me feel very insecure most of my life.
My particular 'x' factor which is both a good thing and something that has several times almost destroyed me is the love I have felt for several wonderful women............. this obsession has affected my career as well as my personal happiness and caused extremes of feeling wonderfully happy and, occasionally, feelings of total misery.

saseez: so true gilly ....
its also very hard to explain to other people what you loved about the person that died without sometimes offending the person you might be telling... because they might not have the same qualities about them ?
