Englishman55: You've never been to Italy then !

no I haven't as a matter of fact but I was in the Dominican Republic and it's scary there. The "biggest vehicle" gets the right of way there. Egypt is even worse.

one thing that is not exactly true is that in Belgium we have more dicipline. Well not when it comes down to what I have to go through. In traffic accidents we are rated about 17 th in the amount of deaths per million in Europe. Somewhere around Greece and Portugal. France and Italy score better than Belgium and we are the worst of the Northern European countries.
Why is this in such a peaceful country as ours? It all has to do with not understanding the concequences of our actions.
Steve Stevaerts (Minister of Mobility 5-6 years ago) once said on the news that we should lower the speed on the roads in Belgium from 90 to 70. They did a telephone scensis about this and 78% of the people were against it. Why? The most common answer was "We will not make it to work on time."
My reaction was o.m.g. I have to work on the roads every day and 78 % of the people are aggresive and dumb to boot. Not a pleasant feeling.

i feel limiting the speed is going to impede some of ur freedom. if a driver is well skilled, even at high speed there are less chances of accident. what i have noted in brussels is that most of the drivers dont follow traffic rules. dont care at padestrian cross.

again it comes to social awareness, the importance of human life.
i dont know why it happens in belgium. belgium is considered to be the tarch bearer of civilisation

That is exacly what is wrong. There was an "enquete" that asked who thought they were good drivers. 85% answered yes they were good but if when I asked around in my friends group how many of them would be able to pass a driving test only one 1 of 10 said yes they could pass. This is exactly what is wrong everybody thinks they can drive well but most can't in actual fact. I will ask you a question. When driving 50 km on a road and you can just barely stop for a situation. If you drive 60 with the same situation you will not be able to stop in time but at what speed do you colide into the person bicycle or car? Give a guess everybody join in please I will answer in 10 minutes.

Hello and...

sorry to disappoint You.

But first thing that comes to my mind when speaking of Belgium is always those horrible cases og phedophili some years ago. All those little girls who were captured and meaningless ended their lives in such horrible ways. A huge chain of phedophiles including policeofficers, law people - teachers HORRIBLE

Of course it does`nt judge all the Belgium inhabitants, and unfortunately it happens in any country - but especially this incident was so horrifyingmoping

You could turn that around, Belgium were first on scene getting rid of the nasties. Many countries followed, helped by experiences from the Belgians.

So in that sense, they would be ahead of other countries in humane right issues...

not really afterall I don't understand half (the French speaking ones) and then you have the people that talk like this:
"stif coot way" I couldn't get what they were saying and then all of the other dialects they are like another language.
uh oh that's right I'm not Belgian
rolling on the floor laughing
great people though
