newinsouth: I tried posting in the New Jersey Forum but that really has been dead. I'd like to hear stuff from my old home state too. I lived north of Asbury Park and South of Newark in Tinton Falls.
Maybe thats because its so good that they're all out having fun
ooby_dooby: Doubtful, They are probably stuck in traffic holding their breath.
I live in New Jersey. It's still kicking. Don't have any gossip to give you. The current governor is campaigning for re-election against sometime who has a background that is questionable.
Very true, New Jersey roads are like a parking lot sometimes.
Gossip from Jersey... hmm... Avalon Run's been renamed to "Avalon Run Down".
Just remembered something. Still makes me laugh. Does anyone remember Corey Booker's public remark after Obama was elected. He was so happy he could hardly contain himself and went on to say that he wants to "luxuriate in the racial deliciousness of our country."
I live in South Jerey all my life. The politians are corrupt as ever, traffic is at a crawl unless you know the back roads to go to the Jersy Shore. It has been a rainy summer mostly on weekends.Have not been to Wildwood in years. I mostly go to Ocean City now.You should'nt miss the high property taxes in New Jersey.
Woodbury is common. It is in Gloucster County near the Delaware River.I live in a small town next to Woodbury called Woodbury Heights. My Mom has cousins in Gallway Ireland.
ooby_dooby: BTW, the state income tax was gauranteed to keep property taxes down. HA HA HA The joke was on us.
Keep property taxes down... Now there's a joke!
Does anyone remember when Whitman was Governor and Mitsubishi aired a commercial where they advertised the speed of the car by having it zoom into a cloud on the turnpike up by the chem plant (I think it's btwn exits 11 and 13) and then zoom out of that fat, dense cloud a bit further down
Whitman had that commercial banned within a day. The argument was that it misrepresented Jersey ... ... ya right
Going to the mall on the weekends can turn into a 4 hour trip. Driving on the GSP is sickening Friday night and all weekend long. 287? If you like a bucking bronco ride; go for it as you weave in and out of 18 wheelers that shimmy and shake your car as you pass.
If I had a choice, which I don't yet.... I would wave bye bye to the home of the Golden Finch.
It's not all bad, but traffic is a bear and clouds the good stuff. Way too congested in this neck of the woods. Have family who moved to New England and they love it.
New TV Series in the UK - just started over here, a real life programme called Housewives of New Jersey - it shows very opulent lifestyles....... only for some people, same as over here! It is interesting to see how other people live, though.
