tennesseejudy: September....a pause, for summer
to say an awkward
and lingering good-bye
and for Autumn,
sitting on a hilltop,
a jug of fresh cider
in one hand,
a bunch of wild purple asters
in the other,
waiting to say hello.

An early warning to get ready for winter. The animals are shedding their summer coats so They can get their winter ones. Frost in the mornings. The leaves turning to a million shades of red and orange. Time to walk in the fall woods, hand in hand with the one you love.to say an awkward

My sister says she would love September more if I didn't quote this poem all month every year everytime I saw some of the things in it..
September
The goldenrod is yellow,
The corn is turning brown;
The trees in apple orchards
With fruit are bending down.
The gentian's bluest fringes
Are curing in the sun;
In dusty pods the milkweed
Its hidden silk has spun.
The sedges haunt their harvest,
In every meadow's nook;
And asters by the brookside
Make asters in the brook.
From dewy lanes at morning
The grapes' sweet odors rise;
At noon the roads all flutter
With yellow butterflies.
By all those lovely tokens
September days are here,
With summer's best of weather,
And autumn's best of cheer.
