LovelySerene: I hate to ask it but... Why do guys skip over girls with physical disabilities? I'm not saying all guys do, but I hate being skipped over. I never have let my disease get in my way before, so why can't a guy accept me for who I am?

don't give up hope, when i was 26 i was in a car wreck, first i wasn't going to live thru the night (fooled them) then i was never to walk again as i was paralyzed from the neck down, i beat that and returned to work within 3 years... have trouble walking right now as calcium build up is cutting off my spinal cord, i am scheduled for surgery in nov. i have had some beautiful relationships and i am 69, i am on here the same as you. when there is love and i mean true love they don't see the problems, they accept you for who you are and there is someone for you, he will find you, just keep a positive outlook and smile even thru the pain... it is what is inside that matters most.. don't ever give up

There are so many who skip over others for all kinds of reasons. Those people are not worth having in your life or mine. I knew a woman who divorces her husband in 4 days.....why!.....he was messy and left his clothes on the floor.
There are people with worse things in their life than you who find true love to last a lifetime. This is true! So just keep up your spirits and it will come.

Don't ever give up Serene. I've lived, and loved, loved, and lost, both before suffering permanent disabilities, and after it affects. In some ways way it has made me much stronger, and in others made me far more able, and stronger, then many who claim compassion, love, and understanding of the disabled. Those people have legislation, laws on paper, and advocates of its rules, and regulations, so they can sleep well at night. You are not skipped over Serene, but above those who stumble, and fall.

My wife had multiple disabilities. They did not detract from who she was.
I've one friend who is gay with a developmental disability a,d another with CP. Both are very fine women but people seem to want perfection.
I'm far from perfect (sort of a scratch and dent special). Most people don't like that. If they'd only take the time to get to know me they would see what a creep I really and and hate me for who I am instead of what I look like.

I looked at your profile. You are a cute young lady when you smile (the same way with all women....smile) My cousin was in a car wreck....she has a funny walk ans scars on her legs....but because of her personality, she has many many guys who would die to have a chance to be her boyfriend......and she does not put out and they know it. There are 20 guys right now who would date her in a heartbeat. There are 50 who would beat the living hell out of anyone who treated her wrong in the least. Self confidence and personality is her way. So don't doubt yourself and be sweet as you sound and all will come......

Many people have disabilities, and some almost unheard of, tho we learn to understand ourselves, and we do the best we can with what we got, and Given that effort, and you will do fine, I think you should just start posting in the forums, and you will Make many friends, so instead of looking at your disability, look away from it, and you will see Farther, and Percieve More, and you will find Love.... It can take years for someone who is ok to find love, but Making friends in the forums, will allow your Lonliness to not be so lonely, You must come out and make Friends, Starting with me, I am Larry, I grew up in Kansas City , Kansas, i went to Turner School Dist.... just join in the threads, and you will find some Comfort!
I think you should open an introductory Thread, under New Members, and dont even mention your disability, just be you and have fun, your profile could explain some, but Laughter is the best Medicine for you Right Now!!!!!!!!!!
