My take on this is that maybe everyone is nowadays brainwashed into expecting all sorts of magic in relationships? Originally, like a 100 years and more ago, people formed partnerships for mutual assistance?.....

The women ran the home, looked after the children, cooked the food, saw to the general hygiene, grew the household veges, cared for the sick, the elderly relatives, etc etc etc .....

And the man did the HARD manual work outside the home - either tilling the fields for commercial exchange for products, or brought in the money. He was free to persue the business interests knowing the woman was caring for everything in the home.....

BUT NOW - Everyone is "equal". Plus we have the media telling us how glamorous our partners should look and behave, what we should be wearing, how we should be living, How much we should own, what we should smell like, how white and perfect our teeth should be, how shiny our hair must be, how smooth our skin .......... And so now there are higher standards to live up to, and being imperfect, we strive to fulfill these glamorous images, and fall short, get dissatisfied and disgruntled, and get divorced, join singles date sites on the internet, and hope to meet Mr/Mrs Perfect ........... ha ha ha ha..... ..... funny, if it wasn`t so pathetic said she with a big sigh.....
