cristina: Some people don't feel like fish in water, never, ever! I'm a passionate person, I don't know if you can imagine how important it is for my kind of person to have what they want? That's me! It's not Belgium, not Germany but Netherlands. See what I mean?

I'm artist of my life and not a subject of it!
The choices I make, are of my pure intelligence. No one told me the plan. I made it against odds. For this, I'm proud.

So you should be! As I am of the choices I´ve made in my life during the past decade.

When people have said to me how brave I am to travel alone to different countries to work in the past, and to then settle in a new country without the support network of the ex-pat community as I have deliberately chosen not to live in these areas, I´ve laughed it off and said I´m not brave at all.

Now I realise it´s not something many people could do, and you should too.

Hell no, not many people choose to do so, not even having all payed...simply because they are not enough by themselves. Don't we have to give a lot of our personalities on these journeys? Even with all the economic support, success is not guaranteed! Yes Jan, we keep doing it again and again. Kudos to you, after a long steady life in one place, changing your life radically!

My Dutch friends say: "so you have an International Education then?" I never put it that way, but that's what it is and most of them here, never left, not even for erasmus program (6 months of education in another EU country) just because they are too relaxed. I tell ya what...people take life for granted. You gotta sum the more experiences you can instead of following a "system".

cristina: Oh, please, why should you want to suggest my own book title? You don't know the story!
No, sorry, I don`t know the story, and very presumptious of me to suggest a title for your book - my apologies.

Story of my life… I’ve already mentioned the title, now what it is about: it’s about love, or more precisely about me being in love… as I am right now.

A supervisor of a project I’m digging gold for, is about to quit and move to another town and looking for a house there. The other day she showed me a house that one can get for free, or almost for free as free cheese is only in a mouse trap. The condition to get that house is: you have to open sluice at certain times. Immediately I’ve fallen in love with the idea: to live on a river side and be in charge of a sluice. And I was stupid enough to express my feelings… Today she asked me how moveable I was. I said the true: “I like to move it, move it!” (few nomadic drops in my blood or some such) … and believe it or not, she said that it’s possible for me to get that house… Now I don’t know what to do… to move there – it’s a guaranteed poverty, and I like Gothenburg, and it was a couple of weeks ago I have packed up last of boxes after my previous move… But river… but sluice… Though, I’ve never seen them, I’m already in love with them…

"I`m having fun - You like it or not"

Oh now, this sounds like a good read!

This lady moves into this big old house, on the banks of a river, in a town called GOTHenburg .....and her only obligation is to open the sluice regularly......

One cold rain-swept night, howling gales blowing dark clouds before the thin slice of moon, wolves howling in the forests .... she creeps out of the house to go open the sluice ....... She HAS to open the sluice!....The waters are raging and about to break the banks and flood the town of GOTHenburg .....She stands on the banks of the river in her filmy white cotton negligee (for the romantic part, never mind the cold and rain) ... and espys a tall figure leaning against the old oak tree a few feet from where she stands .......Is it...? Maybe ........

That sounds like a plan. Sorry to say, but for me, as things are now, river and sluice are from dream category. Let’s compartmentalize. professor

To live there one has to have an income, and my income is a salary, and it comes from work, and the payment for operating the sluice is permission to live in the house. Though my trade allows me to work from home so long I have certain programmes in my iron box (and I have them), and a steady internet connection (and it’s possible to get at the country side here – it’s Sweden after all). And you have to open the sluice only during the navigation months, from May to September, and only at day time (I’ve checked that)… So there certainly will be no races under Moon light in half-transparent negligee and rubber boots through autumn mud in front of dumbfounded public…rollers

Oy, it’s sounds like a plan

Yes, it could be fun. And it’s definitely a cul-de-sac – that road leads anywhere. But am I going somewhere while living in Gothenburg? Don’t know. Am I prepared to settle down and call it the day? Don’t know. But there I can get a cat – I’d like to have a cat in my home. But a pet is a family, when you’ve got one – you’ve anchored. To summarize – I don’t know. But I don’t have to decide right now, perhaps in few months. Closer to navigation so to say.
