Went to P&C (local food store) yesterday and the deli had bean salad for $4.99 per pound ....so we said to hell with that and bought a can of garbano beans, green beans ,black beans, and red kidney beans went home added some onion ,red bell pepper, some seasonings ,olive oil ,and Italian dressing......ended up with about five pounds of bean salad for less than $4.00 .....yup eating some now.......wave

I make alot of my salads from scratch. Some of the salads usually have to much bitterness to them and just don't have the same flavor as homemade.Besides I know for a fact that alot of the grocery stores where I shop here that their deli salads aren't made from scratch. They most often come out of a can.I know here in Cincy You can purchase canned bean salad and German Potato salads in a can.

Here's a Potato Salad recipe I've using for quite sometime.

Classic Potato Salad.

1 cup Miracle Whip Salad Dressing(since I don't like for Mayo).

2TB of vingar

1-1/2 tps salt.

1 tsp sugar.

! cup sliced/diced celery.I use about 1 to 2 stalks.

1/2 cup choped onion.I use a sweet onion alot less tears.LOL!!!

3 boiled eggs.

I take a med bowl and mix the salad dressing, distilled white vinegar, salt, sugar together.

Then in another large bowl I add the celery, eggs, onion together. Then I add the dressing mixture.

I agree, usually homemade is so much better. I make a mean batch of cinnamon rolls and fry bread from scratch, no recipe, no measuring. Have my own little twist to cinnamon rolls and only takes half the time to make them. conversing

Nothing like walking into a small town bakery and smelling that wonderful fresh baked bread and rolls smell. UMMMMM UMMMMMM

When my late husband was seriuosly injured and in hospital for several weeks I was left with trying to provide for me and the boys. I started cleaning homes and selling fresh baked goods from my home. Got little to no sleep but sure kept enough money coming in and I still to this day always bake a large batch so I can just give some away. wave
