Sometimes I look on Ebay and there are gazillions of old lockets up for sale. A locket is a necklace charm that opens up with pictures inside. In the old days they used to put hair in lockets. Once I bought my sister an awesome antique locket. It was junk metal that looked like brass or copper. It had some kind of gold plate that was worn almost all the way off. then, it had an art deco shape welded on the front with a dark purple crystal gem. It was on a chain that had a few gold beads on it. It looked really really vintage and cool. The thing I liked the most about it was that it reminded me of old witch movies where a girl inherits her wacky old auntie's house along with her wacky old auntie's jewelry and witch powers. I have a really awesome silver one. I made the string of beads that it hangs on. I'm going to put a certain guy's pictures in it. Breckenridge! I think lockets are a charming tradition that needs to be revived. What would you put in your locket?
I used to have a beautiful silver locket with a pic of my daughter and nephew inside, i cant find it and ive looked everywhere for it,I was out shopping yesterday and one caught my eye in jewellers, so gorgeous and only priced at £300..If i bought another one then it would be a pic of my daughter and my nephew i would put inside locket.
That sounds awesome. I just looked on Ebay. There are gazillions of lockets. They have whole lots of old ones. At one time, it seems like everyone had a locket.

During the war years I would imagine you would have kept a pic of your beloved in a locket close to your heart??????

I love lockets, I have two regular ordinary oval ones gold and silver. I have a mad handbag shaped one it is red. I also have a wee silver handbag locket. You have set me thinking....they are all empty...
I have two gold ones that are very dear to me.... One given to my Grandma by my Grandpa around 1905; it is round and bears tooth marks of her first son, who died at age 12. The other was given to my mom by my dad, heart-shaped, engraved, "My heart is yours forever, Ward, '46". Forever only lasted 13 years for them. I like to wear them both together.
I really like the idea of lockets as well. Though I've never had one. My Grandmother did. But when she passed it went on to someone else in the family. I don't think things like that are appreciated as they should be.
this is funny i just said yesterday about a locket and putting her hair in it,but i think men used to carry it on their watch fob but the same sentiment was there
I have one that I have cherished for 43 years that was given to me by my parents on my 6th birthday. It is heart shaped and it has broken and I am going to get it fixed and start wearing it again. It is very small so I doubt that anything could be put in it other then the years of memories.
Yeah! See? People do love lockets!!! I like the ones that are really functional. Some always break or have other problems. I like the old sturdy ones in plain metal more than shiny new ones, but they're all good.
I have two siver lockets each containing a curl of my son and daughters baby hair.
I rarely wear them as I´m a jewellery fanatic, and they are now outdated and clumsy looking. However, they are still treasured.
Charm bracelets are another old-fashioned item of jewellery. I have one full of pretty charms which I´ve had since my 18th birthday, but again, I don´t wear it any longer.
