Today I was told what my next assignment will be. I'll be heading to Milan, Italy.
It's still a long way off. I'll be in Greece for almost another year, will return to Washington, D.C., for about 9 months of Italian language training, and then ultimately arrive in Milan sometime in 2011 (summer, roughly). I'm thrilled to be able to go to Italy and also to be able to receive intensive language training first.
So....look out, Italy. I'm heading your way. Mamas, lock up your sons! hehe laugh

LOL. I've been accused of that many times, but I'm just your average, run-of-the-mill secretary. Granted, I am the secretary to the U.S. Ambassador here and the work is fascinating and often intense; when in Milan, I will work for the Consul General. But, although privvy to a lot of information, the only information I try to gather is general gossip. laugh

(And, if I WAS a spy, there are too many people here that I'd have to kill!)

Great news!

I know a very nice Italian couple who live out here for several months of the year; they are from Milan and go back every November then come back out here in the Spring!

Another couple out here are now sadly just one person as the husband died; they also lived in Milan and used to get my mum tickets for La Scala.

2011 - yes, it seems a long way off, but time flys so quickly when one isn't as young as one once was........... ok, I'm dropping myself in it again so I'd better back off! laugh
