Elley: I think I may have been a little misunderstood here,or perhaps didn,t make myself clear, tho Jan got closest to it.

I wasn,t carping on about the past,I was just seeking points of view about the passage from innocence to experience really,(Great English Poet William Blake dealt with this subject in his Songs of Innocence and Experience as did American author J.D.Salinger in his seminal novel Catcher in the Rye).

What I was asking was,is it better to go back to blissfil ignorance (if that was possible)or to continue to confront reality with eyes wide open ? Is it better to face full on the true horrors of what it can be to be alive or do you cover your eyes when it comes to the scary bit in the film at the movies ?

I wasn,t carping on about the past,I was asking a valid question relating to the human condition.

Clear ?

Thanks guys.
Confront reality, since we can't close our eyes for ever. But keep a corner in your mind, where you can hide when reality hits too hard so that you can recover and find the strength to struggle again. In any difficulty you can find something positive and thats the point where you concentrate-somebody mentionted the ants-yes nature gives us so easy the"corner in our mind" where we can find beauty and peace. At least thats how I try to face reality.

Elley: ...I think back a little and realise that for most of my adult life I was living life in a bubble,a time when everything in the garden was rosy and I almost never, ever reflected back.

Round about 40 got a really big wake up call an stepped out of the bubble, not cause I was forty, jus so happened that that was when things cascaded down on me.

Now not sure if life in the bubble was better (ignorance is bliss)than harsh reality (expereience is hell)....do I try to get back into the bubble,is it possible or just stay the way I am ?

deep words!

smoky: Hey, for once Roberto is talking realy good sense!!!

Imagine ..... would your life be better?..... if you`d lost your legs?,... or your arms?.......or were trapped inside a helpless body...? NEIN fellow ..... you got EVERYTHING you need to have a good life now!

Once upon a time .... a surfer guy (son of a preacher man) in SA, said to me he believes that God enjoys enjoying LIFE thru us .... so when he surfs, and catches real good waves ..... God is enjoying him/herself just as much as the surfer is! Cant be much fun having created all this and not have a body to enjoy it with...? ... so thats why He/She created people..... ha ha haaaaa

I going back to bed now, to nurse my `flu ... me and God got `flu.

Yes, it would.

The queue for handicap adjusted flats (Gothenburg, Sweden) is 70+ people. Last year 14 persons have got one. The rest remains in the queue. God knows where and how they live.

The overall unemployment rate is 5%; the unemployment rate for handicapped is 50% (numbers for whole Sweden, two months ago).

Hence, no home, no job.

As if it wouldn’t be enough, they are used as the lowest mark to indicate an ordinary whiner’s tiny grieves.

And still, they don’t complain. Or at least I haven’t seen that many handicapped people here crying on the public’s shoulder in order to get attention. (Looks like they’ve got some spirit and dignity, don’t they?) But if they did complain... What then would be your lowest mark to indicate their problems? What then would you compare their lives to, to console them? Whom then would you point out as the lowest mark? An ordinary spiritless whimper, that’s it.

Because there is nothing else lower than that.

Tomrrow doesn't exist for me yet, but I am looking forward to flying off to Tel Aviv via Larnaca next Sunday for two weeks - and boy, has the lady I'm visiting there got an exciting itinery planned for me!

Best of luck if you're going through Larnaca. The new airport opens on Tuesday and is running in tandem with the old one for the first week. Hope it's not a re-run of UK terminal 5 fiasco!

smoky: Yes, it was a brilliant posting by Ginger. She knows..... and puts it SO well!

See Elley? With all the input here, misunderstandings and all ..... things begin to get a bit clearer huh? The curtains of mist begin to part .....

Living in a bubble ....eyes closed to heck with the consequences, is like being drunk ... when you do things you wouldnt normally do ..... and when you wake up the next morning reality hits.......... So NO, not good to live in a bubble ..... Rather have your eyes wide open ...... maybe miss some "fun", which is not realy true fun just an illusion ......and be sensible........ at least you get to keep the bits and pieces of your soul together!

Another brilliant response, wow,we got some real switched on ladies round these parts guiding the way forward.

Tis true, sometimes we need to close our eyes to be able to see better, and lo those misty, musty old curtains do indeed part. Thanks all.dancing

Thank you for the kind words. I'm not always a clear thinker.

Funny thing, your view of your bubbble that is so much fun, with room for all sorts of things, reminds me of the film Barbarella, where she ends up in this place full of bubbles in a kind of psychadelic haze......... A surreal film for sure.....rolling on the floor laughing wow doh
