what an interesting post to stumble onto...I don't bandy those words around loosely but as for my online contacts I actually have 3 that I've known for over 6 years a piece as I met all three around the same time and yes I tell them I love them all the time...

men can be afraid to say i love you because ...he knows what it will mean to a woman .. i had the fear to say i love you often .. for many years....
it was not till i went through my .."just friends" stage and every one i talked to knew i was not interested in romance .. it was then that i love you became a comfortable thing to say ... i had de-fused the phrase
if some one is reluctant to say i love you ... relax the meaning... other languages have many more words for i love you to allow for the growth of love in a relationship..
