I think if you read the whole 50 pages of the thread you are possibly reffering to (only my assumption based on your comment on that thread) I think you will find the majority of the participants were actually having a very good debate.

There were only one or two participants who were attempting to stir up an argument, with aggressive and vitriolic accusations, the reasons for which were not clear.

It's my humble opinion that the majority of CS users can actually have a reasonable debate without descending into argument.

I think people argue because they don't have enough sense to quit when they're ahead.Nor do they know how to just agree to disagree and move on.Plus they always have to be right and have the very last word.

Things are a lot better than they used to be......... a lot less name calling and more respect for the differing views of other people; I might be wrong but I think things have definitely got better! thumbs up
