Last Christmas, I developed an abscess at 3am on CHRISTMAS MORNING, of all days..doh

This year, just when I was looking forward to my first Christmas in the States with my new hubby, I fall and now have a suspected cracked rib and am sitting here in agony. No doubt, this will go on for some weeks now..mumbling

Only yesterday also, I heard about a nurse at the local hospital who was found dead in the restroom - she was only 41.dunno

I hear of so many distasters/deaths/relationship breakups happening around this time of year. Every year, its the same..

What is it about this time of year??confused And whats the worst thing that has happened to you over the Holiday Season??

Personally I think that the holidays only seem to "magnify" things ... and truly when you think of it things happen every day of the year.

As for sharing what bad has happened, I'd rather not because to dwell on those sad moments isn't good for the heart. I'd rather celebrate the present as all too often the past comes back all on its own.

All I can say is just be thankful it was a sore tooth and a cracked rib - those can heal.

Yes, true about the holidays magnifying things, I agree..thumbs up

Its not just sad things I wanted to hear about; its all those little disasters, like putting the turkey in the wrong side up after going to the pub on Christmas Morning, and then wondering why there was no meat on the breasts..confused

Culinary disasters also welcomed!!

I ruptured my achilles tendon last Christmas Eve.

Didn't realise until Christmas morning when I crawled
out of my tent and tried to stand up.

Tequila...what an anesthetic. laugh

Me, Falling Off of A Bridge!doh uh oh blues mumbling

It was A Friday Evening, a 4TH of July Holiday Weekend 2004, the 4th was on like a Monday, so a 4 day Wknd.....

I was Salvaging Big Bridge Timbers, to Build a Structure for a Post and Beam House..... My Son was 14 and helping Me, and A Board went to slip and I Caught it, so as we proceeded to put it on the Trailer, I was Standing at the edge of the Bridge, and as he went to Get his end and put on the trailer, It Pushed me Backwards off the Bridge, and Fell aprox 15 Feet, and landed under the Bridge, on my back... I had Pain like I had never felt, I thought I broke my back, at first, and Figured they would have to life flight me out of there... after a bit and with My sons help, I walked back to the Van and Drove about 2 miles home,,,

All the doctors were off duty and without Insurance, at the time, I DIDNT go to the Emergency room, I waited till tuesday and went got X-Rayed, I didnt break anything, tho i have severe soft tissue danage... ( Alot of Pain, Now it turns to Scar Tissue, and Hurts like hell.... Tho I walked away, it Hurt me, and have Some Back Problems..... the 4 day wait was Mostly in bed with Ice, and Pain Pills..... That was My worst 4th of July, That was 5 yrs ago..... and still Kikin, Just not as High grin

I do have Pain every day, tho just have to live with it... Now the good part..... I DIDNT fall on a Rock, or a Log, I landed Flat in the Dirt!.... What a Weekend!

We all feel the pain of others. We all suffer. That is what this time of year reminds us of.
The suffering of Christ.

Hey there Lady. I hope you feel better. Got to watch that ice. Its out to get you. I cant count the times I've gone down on ice. Never broke any thing from it, but thought I had. Keep the wine flowing and soon it wont hurt. Merry Christmas to you and Dave.
