well for those you want to give presents too there is always stuff you can give that can be very thoughtful and appreciated but costs nearly nothing eg .....music mix of the persons favourites you can download the music yourself...scrap books with photos of memorable events etc

and if you cant afford to go out make cook a big spagettata...and get some local wine and invite people home

In a way I'm lucky, because since I work in the hospitality sector I'll be working so I'll be earning money. But as ghost actually said were presents are concernod sometimes some tought and fantasy can do the trick. Regading the eves why not organise a nice home bottle party. You just need to download some music. Alcahol wise u are sorted, and to organise food like dips and small snacks is not that expensive. And if you have a comftable sofa hire a good movie. And it will be a nice evening with friends and your beloved once, you avoid hassle of teenagers and drunk people running around, and if you drink you're not driving back home. And it will turnout in a great evening and with 50 euros you re sorted.

The most valuable thing you can give them is totally free...you. I,m in a similar position and so are some of my closest friends and family. A lot of us will only give or get a phonecall saying how much we love each other. You cant buy that. You yourself are the greatest gift you can give. I sometimes think the more expensive the present the less that person thinks of me. Good idea to just download summat. My best mate and I are both big Beatles fans and usually just exchange a cheap Beatles poster. Means a lot to both of us.thumbs up

When you are broke, Christmas or not, the only people that would be around you are your genuine friends and the closest family. And they are together with you for what you are, not for what you can buy them.

For me celebration is a state of mind, spirit, feeling you have for it, not presents and not cash. And as non-religious I have no intentions to celebrate Christmas. But perhaps I’ll get feeling for celebrating Immediately-After-Christmas: they started to chat about Christmas already in October, and I’m frankly bored of all this beyond description, but it may become funnier when it’s over.grin

I’m going to celebrate New Year!!!

My son coined a new phrase this year for the gift giving thing of Christmas ...... is called "retaliation" ....rolling on the floor laughing When you give stuff in retaliation for getting stuff you dont need, never would have bought for yourself, got no space for, dont know what to do with .....

So this year we only giving the small kids really nice gifts. The rest of us adults just giving each other our most favourite yummies to eat ..... hahahahaaaa.....grin

Personal gifts for my few personal friends here ... all bought for under 20 Euros .. all inclusive for everyone! I found an obscure family shop that makes their own liquers and jellybaby sweets....and sells tiny cute little bottles under 2 euro .... so everyone is getting a sample of some exotic liquer and a packet of jellybabys! The smoker friends ... I made designer tobacco pouches for them ... for their loose tobacco/papers/lighter - out of an old tent! (I recycle things like that! cause the dump wont take it!) Even the velcro fastenings come off the tent... hahahahaaaa..... grin

Well, its the thought that counts hey?....teddybear
