You are correct in your observations. But people are people regardless of the media. I once thought that someone behaved differently from internet to real life but I find that is false for most people because what one writes online comes from the mind and that doesn't get turned off in the real world, it just gets busy with other things.
As far as people getting the wrong Idea, it is your responsibility to write what you think and feel and to be clear enough so that others know where you're coming from.
