There is other free sites with forums and chat rooms out there but nothing is as good as this site trust me i tried you'll just get confused with other forums.

Not long ago PofF, the site Dani hails from, had some threads
about other sites, but I can't find them any more, and recently we were warned here about doing anything that would lead people away to other sites. Were I allowed to think it, I might venture to think it a mistake, but we are not even allowed to
think thoughts critical of the powers that be, so let us just refrain from mentioning other sites by name, all of which we will understand to be places we would never dream of visiting.
Whether this thread will survive even if we do exercise such self restraint is an open question. But yes, there are other
free sites, with forums, more than one.

Soooo..... I see a business opportunity here. If Match.com buys this site because it is so good then I will build a really good free online singles site with lots of bells and whistles and wait for someone to find it and buy me out and I become the next trazillionaire. Wheeeeee! This could be fun.

I guess that I feel so many sites are all bells and whistles,
but when you look under the hood, instead of a real engine,
all you see is a rubber band. There is nothing remotely
resembling a real matching engine in most of these sites.
I can think of one site that has little toy one-cylinder
quarter-horsepower engine, and that is about it, but that
one has such a poor collection of bells and whistles that
almost everybody hates it. There is yet to be a site
which offers anything worthwhile, and that includes the pay
sites. This site is good because of the bright clean interface
and the forums, but it is the people then which make it work.

I don't think that any free site should be upset about other free sites, the whole point is to help people make friends, and perhaps more; the sites who should show some fear are the ones who charge; getting the word out about good,free sites is the answer.

they have on site, and fear loss of revenue. Still I think
they should be open about it. Nobody is yet facing the real
problem, which I believe you mentioned to me in person the
other day, Dani, that if you divide the small singles population
of a city of Nanaimo amongst 28 different sites, no site has
enough people to do good matches. They have to cooperate or
people have to sign up to lots of them. I would prefer them
to cooperate, but hey don't know how.

People can only join if they know about all the free sites, I don't leave one free site to go to another one, I just join the free ones that seem good, I think it would be great to co-operate, so the pay sites will have to change, as finding friends should be available to everyone.

I am on pof and I don't like it. The forums are time consuming to look through, and the match maker doesn't work any better. I might be a little biased though. I dig it here. Real easy to see the new posts, and easy to pick out who I will clique with. I just wish more people would post on the threads. I see lots of potentials, but they never post anything so I can get an idea of who they are. And no offense Maruli, but pull up your sleeves and put in the work, bro. The best way to make sure a job is done right is to do it yourself.
