I have run across some very interesting coloquial expressions over the years that made me smile. laugh

So to get things started I'll share one which has an added dimension when you live "up north." When something has broken down you will occasionally hear someone say "it went south." I often wondered if this was actually an old northern expression.....many things needed to be sent south for repairs.

I hope others will jump in and share their favourites.

Cheers

Sheesh......I'm truly disappointed. I would have thought there would be lots of interesting coloquial expressions across Canada. Was looking forward to hearing some zingers. dunno
Maybe we need some Newfies to get this going.

Lord tunderin' geezus boy,...notta a newf here,....just an Albertan,...eh?

This would be easy in the US,...just hit 'em with "hey, know where I can get a two-four and find me some beaver?" Hell, before I can pull my touque down over my ears they're gone,...just remember never to say "A-boot" for about,...(seriously,...I might use eh every once in awhile, but can NEVER remember saying A-BOOT,.....but then again,,...after 37 beer and riding a less than receptive caribou into town, who in the hell knows what I said,....)

A couple of years ago I was doing some network setup, and back then we only had the T31 connectors and terminators to work with, this way before the RJ45 cables, and well, I sorta got stuck, so I called a tekki buddy in California and he asked me what the weather was like here, this was in November, I told him it was colder than a witches elbow, he started laughing and asked how I knew, and if I ever felt a witches elbow. I thought, naw, I wasn't gonna lose this one, so I told him, if he ever wanted to find out what a witches elbow felt like, let me know, and I'd send him my ex-wifes home address....
