In response to: Two questions here that I would love to hear what others have to say about them...
1. Why would "you" tell a lie?
2. What is the "reasoning/motive" behind it?
Maybe these are one in the same... Please share your thoughts. Thanks, Merky
aren't lies usually told in an attempt to either gain something or to cover up some indiscretion...examples being politicians, televangilists, and small boys going after Mums fresh batch of cookies

I'd say these are the top two for the list: 1.for gain's sake 2.covering up an indiscretion

Long time, no see SB!
The reason WHY I ask is because I want to know if others are thinking the same way as I do, or if I'm just warped in the head. I'm always willing to learn something new IF there is something new to be learned. Especially since I don't know everything yet...
scoutmaster: lie, Id never lie, with my private yat next to my private island in the caribian where brad pit and george kluney often visit I have no neet to lie.

I believe there's two types of dishonesty.THE first is when you bulls.hit somebody, and the second one is witholding information or truth from somebody who deserves to know it.
However,I DO believe that the only time it's o.k to withhold truth,is when telling the truth or being honest it causes the person involved more damage than good,or being honest with somebody TO GET RID OF ONES own GUILT....and leave the other person hurt.

Hi Merky, You have a good one going here g/f When I was much younger I told lies to get kids to like me more. Usually did not work as most found out the truth and they would like me even less. I also told a few lies during my 36 years of marriage. Had nothing to do with affairs but still doesn't mean it was the right thing to do. Now in the past few years when I was with my ex for 2 years I lied to my kids about what was going on more times than I can even remember. Why I always would tell myself they are just little fibs so they aren't so bad, I will never know. A lie is a lie is a lie, no other way to define it.
