Israel' Disproportionate Response
Many countries and world leaders have accused Israel of responding disproportionately to aggression from Hizballah in Lebanon and Hamas in Gaza. However, it is time that the world press and media speak of another disproportionate response from Israel.
The terrible disastrous earthquake in Haiti has generated responses from many nations. The US has sent supplies and personnel, Britain sent 64 firemen and 8 volunteers, France sent troops for Search and Rescue. Many large and wealthy nations of the world sent money. The Arab and Moslem world nothing.
Israel, a nation of 7.5 million people has sent a team of 220 people that include Medical personnel and will establish the largest field hospital in Haiti, treating up to 5000 people a day, an experienced Search and Rescue team and medical supplies. As in previous earthquake disasters, such as in Gujarat India in 2001 and in Turkey, in the bombings in Kenya, Israel has been one of the most generous givers of aid and assistance.
Turkey seems to have forgotten this help as its extreme Moslem Government is cozying up to Iran.
Judge Goldstone, where are you now? Eating your heart out and hanging your head down in shame I hope.
The favorite occupation in the UN is Israel bashing. More resolutions have been passed condemning Israel than all the so called democratic nations such as Sudan, China, Russia and others for their crimes against their minorities.
I think it is time that the world should know about Israel's disproportionate response.
Thank you for this post. It is indeed time for some people to admit they shoot the wrong target. It is time that the world press and media speak of the generosity and the aid Israël brings to Haiti. May I add that Belgium, a 10 million inhabitants country, was one of the very first country to arrive in Haiti. A team of specialised rescuers with trained dogs to find survivors, as well as soldiers. This B-Fast team also included a medical team that performed 60 surgery operation per day. The Belgian contribution as emergency aid is 10 millions Euros. Together with the German Red Cross, a complete hospital will be raised. Belgian financial contribution on this is 500.000 Euros. Not mentionning the huge contribution of Belgian people through their financial help to NGO's. Of course, Belgium does also participate to the European Union's contribution.

I find it offensive when people politicize tragedies like this. Set up an I Israel thread if you're that way inclined. This is a form of thread hijacking.
Hats off to Israel for it's remarkable and disproportionate response to the Haiti disaster. Accolades to all the countries that came to help.
At the same time, let's not forget Israel's other disproportionate response to the recent aerial bombings of sitting duck civilians in the Gaza Strip, and use of incendiary devices, outlawed by the Geneva Convention:
Over the course of the 22 day Israeli assault on the Gaza Strip, a total of 1,434 Palestinians were killed. Of these, 235 were combatants. The vast majority of the dead, however, were civilians and non-combatants: protected persons according to the principles of IHL. PCHR investigations confirm that, in total, 960 civilians lost their lives, including 288 children and 121 women. 239 police officers were also killed; the majority (235) in air strikes carried out on the first day of the attacks. The Ministry of Health have also confirmed that a total of 5,303 Palestinians were injured in the assault, including 1,606 children and 828 women.

It's her thread, how can she be hijacking it when she started it???

We do not have to politicize this tragedy, politicians do that very well by themselves. Your response does confirm the OP's opinion that the favorite occupation of many is to bash Israël.
While taking my hats off to the teams from Israel for the excellent job that they are doing in Haiti....
...I can in no way justify the Israel attitude of the last few decades in their continuous genocide of the Palestinian people....still in act as we speak.....
...and I do not see how this tragedy in Haiti is of any reason to think otherwise.....

I have to admit, I do agree with this post.
However, There is NO doubt in my mind that Israel have led the way in the rescue effort and they have put the 'big guns' to shame.

My opinion too Gozoman...
And to the OP
It IS a good gesture from Israel, but with a big risk of politic involved (to remove focus from Gaza)
But they still need help in Haiti (and Palestine) indeed...

....shame does not come to mind in this tragedy actually.....
...on the contrary....it seems that we are finally witnessing a case where across all barriers and differences........all nations have joined hands and resources in an act of global effort.....
...the news media are not in a position to show all that is being done on Haiti yet.....
...but one must not forget the Japanese contingent....who had the first operational field hospital in place.....
...nor the Peruvians who were already on the outer areas of the disaster zone before even journalists were there...
...hats off to the US on this one too....even though it seems that they were more worried on securing safe zones rather then pushing out aid convoys....maybe they are right in doing so too...
...and being so close to home...without a doubt...hats off to the Italians...who were there with mobile hospitals and equipment within 24 hours of the tragedy....and who are now on their way with a packed full aircraft carried with a fully equipped hospital including medics and staff....
...to all those....and the many more who are not mentioned or who are not seen on our TV sets.....
...our grateful thanks for showing us the meaning of humanity....

It is always the same. that these things are often not regulated, many are wanting to help, and it ends in some sort of chaos. The great thing is when so many countries came out. My own country Holland too. Much is needed for years to come.Yes it is true about Israel and the Palistines. Many things are not right in the world. New Orleans for example, many still don't have a home today. For now I am personally just greatful for anyone out there in Haiti to help.

Isreal is doing a good thing, they are helping people in their time of need. Why find bad in that?
