I used to own a pub/hotel ... up @ 7am to bed @ 1am 7 days a week.

I loved it.

When I worked for the Ministry of Defence in the UK, I worked 12 hour shifts ... 4 days on, 4 days off, 4 nights on 4 nights off.
Loved that too.

But I am lucky, I only need 5 hours sleep a night.

I work at home, so does that count as work? rolling on the floor laughing

I get up at 5 am and go to bed around 9 pm. It's a 16 hour day, seven days a week when school is not in session.

Hence I'm not a late night online chatter. Sure wish I had the energy to do that. wine

Sounds hard for you Froggy, how do you manage with your son?

These days I work 9 to 5, Monday to Friday and that is enough for me.

Have worked longer hours, especially when running a business with ex, long hours often 7 days a week and occasionally all night. Not something I could or would do again.

haha froggy I know what you mean. last week I worked a total of 55 hours and this week I'm working 60 hours.... Yes that means a great pay cheque but I'm falling into bed at night and falling out in the morn.... AND I don't get to see my son whne he's awake except on Sunday which is my designated DAY OFF. I'm trying to get enough money saved up because he needs to go to school this year (first year) and I need to buy him...everything lol.... I mean like book bag, ect.... and his birthday party is next weekend and I want to get him some cool presents ect... but I haven't had anytime to interact with him.. he is sleeping when I leave and sleeping when I come home.... I miss him. It suKs being a single parent. But I love him to death lol and wouldn't change this at all except of course I haven't gotten to see Gil in 2 weeks and won't see him for another 2 weeks-the longest we've gone without seeing echother since January....

Bella and I are on the same schedule. Been threatening to hang a time clock/punch out card in the kitchen. I'd kill for an 8 hour day.

froggy, it takes your body at the very least 2 weeks to adjust to a different schedule. I am sorry you hate night shift. I have been doing this for a very long time, so I know how hard it can be. It makes people that work during the day not understand that you sleep during the day. It is hard for get togethers with family and friends, so you have to make arrangements way ahead of time. My days off I try to be on the same schedule as everyone else, but then I have to get back to my usual schedule. I work from 10p.m. to 6 a.m. and have to be there at 9:45 pm for roll. Then when I work overtime I am there until 2 p.m.

before i decided to go back to school, i pulled five 16-hour shifts per week, at the minimum...more if there was an issue and i was needed.

when jay and i split, the reality check was that my children needed mommy more...and i decided to go back to school. now i get up at 6:00, have raegan on her bus by 6:30, get kids ready and to school by 7:15, and either work or class by 7:30...but i'm home every evening and on saturdays.

of course, that leaves me doing homework in the middle of the night.

it sucks, cause i'm soooo a night person...my ideal shift is until midnight, and i need to sleep in.

oh, well...the things we do for our kiddies.

Not a mornning person so i work for a resort and the job i do starts no earlier than 10Am sometimes 12 noon.

I had a gravyard shift once started doing speed. Not my best idea in fact one of my worst. I was young a stupid and everybody did on the shift. Did it for about 2 weeks and quite the job and that crap as well. Never worked that kind of shift again and the same for speed.
