Just thinking... ever notice that only married people get elected to office? Usually they're married with 2.5 kids in fact... so, who is representing the population of SINGLE people who aren't married with 2.5 kids?
Why do you have to be married with 2.5 kids in order to hold elected position? Shouldn't this qualify single people with no kids as a legal minority group?
I think the reason for married people getting elected into office is because of "family values" from what they say.Well from what I've seen more and more of these married elected people are having affairs.

Apart from the 2000 elections do you not get who is voted for ?

LMAO! ROF!
Yeah at least you couldn't criticize single elected officials (if there WERE any!) for sleeping around. We wouldn't have to lie about it, unlike John Edwards and other politicians... I still can't believe that man was in the running to be President of the United States, given all the outright lies that man was telling! Geez!
But I digress... Look at the state of the world today, and then look at the kind of people who keep being elected to office. Coincidence? I think not!
I still think single non-married people should be considered a legal minority group...

Central-North Europe doesn't apply, they tend to be liberal in that sense. So, shall I conclude that it has more to do with religiosity? The more religious the country is, the more important it is to have that pic?

Could be... we got alot of religious nuts in this country unfortunately. It's funny, the nation was founded by people who wanted freedom of and FROM religion, and ever since we've pretty much regressed back into religious intolerance of others. This new "Tea Party" that's been in the news here lately proudly proclaims it's beliefs are based on the Christian Bible...
Now we also have legal firms on TV running ads proclaiming that "We're Christian Trial Lawyers!" and "It's not wrong to get what the law says you deserve!" (ie. God wants you to sue people... that's the message they seem to be sending IMHO).
It's nuts, and it seems to me that those least qualified to lead are the only ones with "electoral appeal" (ie. married with 2.5 kids typically). Sarah Palin (also in the news way too much now) has a teenage daughter who got knocked up (abstinance only really worked well there!) and now has a child... and can no longer stand the child's father. Brilliant that!
The showing of typical "Family Values" has been in the news a lot lately. What we've seen hasn't been much to say the least. I guess single people give the illusion of being fancy free and able to do whatever we want without repercussions. Hey wait, maybe both situations are illusions

I thought America was founded by the "pilgrims".... Quakers..... or should that be Quackers ?
In response to: Single Representatives... are you represented at any level in govt.?
Nobody is represented by government except the ruling elite. Elections are only elaborate scams to make people think that they have a voice when in fact they have none at all.
RayfromUSA: ... Most were seeking freedom for their own religion...
That's kinda what I meant... they were seeking freedom from religion(s) NOT their own. That's supposed to be 1 of the founding principles of this nation, to be free from having another's religious beliefs forced upon you.
RayfromUSA: Many of the pioneers who settled America WERE religious.
The pilgrims fled England to Holland first, then came to America establishing the colony of Massachusetts.Episcopalians founded the colony of Virginia.
Dutch religious groups, such as the Quakers and the Amish established Pennsylvania.
New Jersey and New York (once NY had been stolen from the Dutch) were settled by Presbyterians.
Seperatists (who split off from Lutheryns) settled the Ohio valley.
Even Catholics fled England to America for religious freedom, setting up the colony in Maryland (mary land).
It is totally incorrect to say that America was settled by people seeking freedom FROM religion. Most were seeking freedom for their own religion.
Religious freedom requires tolerance of other religions and certainly has nothing to do with trying to suppress religion.
