According to reports, leaders are at or about Carmacks - a town on the Klondike highway,a bout a four hour drive from Whitehorse. Not sure how far the dogs have to travel on the trail into Whitehorse...would guess a few hundred. They are breaking records - increased experience in the Mushers, better food, better dogs...regardless, very exciting finish is expected..not the usual one team at a time! And the dogs are in good healthy shape as are the mushers...it has been a safe race so far and that above all else is the most important. The "home" dogs will soon be sensing they are close to their stomping grounds are really start pulling for home! Hopefully I will be able to witness the finish and get some great pics! Did I say that yukon quest has a great facebook page?
BTW, it is clear, above 0 and the sky is the most beautiful bright blue here today...great day for a bit of a rip in the dog sled!
