Seriously, the thread was meant to instill some clever discussion about the credibility of the story, and how for centuries people believed the story of the talking snake.
How people could imagine that a snake no matter how reputedly wise, could surpass the human brain.
If God is ominpotent omnivolent and omniscient, He knew the outcome of the test to humanity before it happened. So why the test?
If it did not happen though, and the act of disobedience was not committed when Eve ate the forbidden fruit, what was man's sin, and what was man punished for? Why did we need salvation?
Anybody can give any opinions please?

Well, if you consider the description given by Ezekial about "God landing on Earth" .....He saw a windstorm coming out of the north - an immense cloud with flashing lightning and surrounded by brillliant light. The centre of the fire looked like glowing metal, and in the fire was what loked like four living creatures. .......but each of them had four faces and four wings...... Their legs were straight, their feet were like those of a calf and gleamed like burnished bronze. Under their wings on their four sides they had the hands of a man. All four of them had faces and wings, and their wings touched one another. Each one went striaght ahead, they did not turn as they moved .......
........The appearance of the living creatures was like burning coals of fire or like torches. Fire moved back and forth amongh the crewatures, it was brifght, and lighning flashed out of it.....
As he looked at the livinig creatures he saw a wheel on the ground beside each creature with its four faces. ...... They sparkled like chrysolite, and all four looked alike. Each appeared to be made like a wheel intersecting a wheel. As they moved, they would go in any one of four directions the creatures faced, the wheels did not turn about as the creatures went. Their rims were high and awesome, and all four rims were full of eyes all round.......
And so on and so on ............ He (Ezekial) did not, obviously, have the technology to actually describe what he saw - it was WAY beyond his ability.
So ..... same with the old story of Adam and Eve ..... It is symbolic ....... like telling a story to kindergarten kids ......And the same or similar story can be found in most other religions..... Like the Great Flood.
Anyway ... all that is the Old Testament - The History of the Jewish Nation ...... an ancient account of their race and their religious founding.
It is not a "Christian" thing ...... Christians are people who follow the teachings of Christ .. who is the main character in the New Testament.

Okay, line up ... First off is the "First Man and Woman" .. well, if you read Genesis you will see that that is exactly who they were .... The FIRST man and woman. It does not go into any explanations or details of the construction of their Endocrine system, Lymphatic system, Colonic construction, Venal system, arterials, spinal cords, nervous system, brain,heart, liver, spleen, etc etc - tis enough to know they were "constructed" .. by Somebody who was here already.
Now the Apple. Was not an apple .... twas "The Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil". They were told by the wily "serpent" that if they ate fruit of that tree they would become "Like God, knowing good and evil".........
The woman (Eve) saw that the fruit was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, so she took and ate it. She also gave some to her husband and he ate it (he was not "tempted").
They now had disobeyed God, their idyllic life was over ..... they needed clothes now, and they were cast out of their Eden garden .....They now had to kill animals to make clothing for themselves (previously they lived off plants/fruits).... They had NOT become like God, nor had they gained any wisdom ... they`d just been stupid......
All this is a "story" in simplified terms so that a child can understand it. Very learned people can not understand it.....it is too simple, and they are too clever...(like God?)
They now no longer lived a joyful free life ... now they had to till the soil to eat ...... and their relationship (of all people henceforth) would have enmity and strife ...... they will die rotten physical deaths and return to the dust.... instead of flying off into the ether like angels.
So .... a few million years went by ...... and finally God got so sick and tired of these wailing snivelling really dumb creatures he`d made, who kept complaining that it was easy for God but not for them ..... He decided to become like Man and walk the earth again ..... giving a simple remedy to them .... "Follow the teachings of Christ and you will have less of a miserable existence."
He actually appeared, in different race forms, all over the world, giving the same message .... NOT to worship the Messenger, but just to obey the Message!

So we are to believe that Adam & Eve really existed. And we are also to believe that it was a talking snake that tricked Eve into disobeying and eating the forbidden fruit.
My question now is. If God is indeed omnipotent, omnivolent and omniscient, as we believe him to be, He must have known about the outcome of the test for Adam & Eve, making this whole event un necessary. It was a minor offence according to me. Just an act of disobedience, a child would get a spaningk on his bottom!!
Don't you think then that the banishing from the fabled Garden of Eden and the misery Man suffered henceforth, were really out of proportion to the alleged offence?
Is it fair for a God who we purport to be justice itself, to punish me and you as descendents of those first humans, when they were the responsible people and not we. Would you think it just to be imprisoned or sentenced to death for something yout father or grandfather did?
Don't you also think that sending His own son to be killed and crucified was too juch of an extreme remedy to restore a peace broken by the fragility of a primitive uncivilised woman?
If God who is supposed to be omniscient created a serpent who was going to bring the downfall of man, the passion and death of His own son and the misery on all humsanity now banned from the garden of Eden, .........what kind of being is he?

Man allegedely made a mistake and ate the forbidden fruit. In order to save him God sent His son to be crucified and killed by man. In order to make this happen, a much more serious crime was being committed by man....the killing of the Son of God... a horrendous crime I would say!! How was this crime atoned??
