My future is as far, for now, as this coming Summer! And I see myself .... languishing in the backyard, next to the pool, tanning in the beautiful hot sun! ....... and for a change of scenery ....... at some nice hot exotic beach next to the sea ... somewhere .... with You-Know-Who!drinking

In the IMMEDIATE future .... well ... I going to go pour me a nice glass of whisky and soda ...... Be back soon!drinking

I see: better health, more travel, will own a motorhome, more painting en plein air, enjoying my grandkids, not sure if I will be doing this alone, or not, in the future though.

I see as much contentment, and more even, than I have now.wine

Day to day happiness and contentment ........in the present .....

My next future is tonight - Fruit Fondue with You-know-who and the grandkids and a friend and her boyfriend .......

Big bubbling melted cheesy, pineapple, apples, cherry tomatoes, pears ... white wine ... and Kirsch (for the adults to dip their bread chunks in!) ..... oh and Iced Tea for the kids .......

Every Saturday we have these mini-"dinner parties" and the little kids compete to set the best table ........

Can`t look too far into the future .... will spoil the fun of the present day!

Nearest future: going to see “Oresteia” of Aeschylus in a theatre this evening. Only four hours of madness, betrayal and revenge. Crime and punishment, Greek style...

I hope you try it ..... One of the guests (the friends boyfriend) said he really did not like Fondue ....... BUT .. he SO enjoyed it with the fruits! And a little bit of fruit goes a loooong way ..... one bunch of grapes, half a pineapple, one pear, one apple - all the big things chopped into chunks.

Hey, another tip I learned ..... any old dry cheese you got in the fridge ... grate that in, if you using the pre-packaged Fondue ... with a glass of white wine ... OR if there`s no kids involved, a glass of Whisky!

Use the Kirsch to dip the bread into before the cheese ... drinking ... oh SO yummy.....drinking (:falling over drunk emoticon:)grin

Never used pre-packaged Fondue... Whisky could be interesting, thanks for the tip.

And I dip my bread in Kirsch... it's more... interesting....
Tried with Rum once, was quite good....

cheers

Oh good! So you tried it?

Another thing to remember with old traditional dishes ..... it`s traditionally a "poor mans dish" .... so absolutely everything can be used ... Even the bread is supposed to be old stale bread! ....... and a leetle bit of alcohol helps with most things .... hahahaaaadrinking

A sneaky thing I did, on Saturday night ....... we only had a small amount of kirsch ...... so of course that was at MY end of the table .... at the other end I put Vodka in their glass to dip their bread into ... and they never even knew the difference ..... hahahaaaa Especially after a couple of pre-Fondue Whiskys!drinking

Ja!...with fruit .... strawberries ...... romantic huh?

Ahh, I tried an old, really old, tip an ancient old friend told me about, for strawberries that have "no taste" or sweetness. You slice them in half or quarters if they very big, or leave whole if small .... and sprinkle with a bit of sugar and leave to stew ... they end up beautifully sweet,, like they`ve absorbed the sugar.....(usually these types of strawberries are "out of season" ones and havent had time to create their own natural sugars)....

Great idea, nothing worse than a strawberry with no taste. Actually there is, a rose with no scent!

A sweetening alternative I use lately is totally natural...'stevia', from a plant, no calories, no chemicals...in small tablet form, and fine granulated also, bot in sachets and jars. As all good Italians know, a geat way to bring out the flavour of fruit, is to soak it in groglaugh.... such as a fine brandy, rum, and my favourit is Bombay gin
