It is the marriage of the soul with Nature that makes the intellect fruitful, and gives birth to imagination.-Henry David Thoreau

"I will arise and go now,and go to Innisfree
And a small cabin build there,of clay and wattles made.
Nine bean rows will I have there,a hive for the honey bee,
And live alone in the bee-loud glade.

And I shall have some peace there, for peace comes dropping slow
Dropping from the veils of the morning to where the cricket sings;
There midnight's all a glimmer,and noon a purple glow
And evening full of the linnet's wings.

I will arise and go now,for always night and day
I hear lake water lapping with low sounds by the shore
While I stand on the roadway,or on the pavements grey,
I hear it in the deep heart's core."

THE LAKE ISLE OF INNISFREE

Meanwhile my beans, the length of whose rows, added together, was seven miles already planted, were impatient to be hoed, for the earliest had grown considerably before the latest were in the ground; indeed they were not easily to be put off. What was the meaning of this so steady and self-respecting, this small Herculean labor, I knew not. I came to love my rows, my beans, though so many more than I wanted. They attached me to the earth, and so I got strength like Antaeus. But why should I raise them? Only Heaven knows.
-The Bean-Field Walden;or, Life in the Woods.

and the Tennesseeans began to live on beans, books, and beer.

Nature and books belong to the eyes that see them.
-Ralph Waldo Emerson

Of course this is why 'Islander' and all the rose daisy rose belong to me.

I may not have mansion, I haven't any land
Not even a paper dollar to crinkle in my hands
But I can show you morning on a thousand hills
And kiss you and give you seven daffodils.

I do not have a fortune to buy you pretty things
But I can weave you moonbeams for necklaces and rings
And I can show you morning on a thousand hills
And kiss you and give you seven daffodils.

Oh, seven golden daffodils all shining in the sun
To light our way to evening when our day is done
And I will give music and a crust of bread
And a pillow of piny boughs to rest your head.

A pillow of piny boughs to rest your head...

This may be one of the sweetest things I have ever heard

"Only two phrases are really needed in any language: 'I am hungry' and 'I love you.' Of these, the latter is the most important for if you tell a woman you love her, she will surely feed you." ~ Louis L'Amour

"This then is the true measure of love: When we believe that we alone can love, that no one has ever loved this way before us and no one will ever love this way again after us."

I have forgotten the originator of the above quote (although it flows like Emerson). The main point is that it is entirely, spectacularly true.

I
When lilacs last in the dooryard bloom'd,
And the great star early droop'd in the western sky in the night,
I mourn'd, and yet shall mourn with ever-returning spring.

Ever-returning spring, trinity sure to me you bring,
Lilac blooming perennial and drooping star in the west,
And thought of him I love.

II

O powerful western fallen star!
O shades of night – O moody, tearful night!
O great star disappear'd – O the black murk that hides the star!
O cruel hands that hold me powerless – O helpless soul of me!
O harsh surrounding cloud that will not free my soul.

III

In the dooryard fronting an old farm-house near the white-wash'd palings,
Stands the lilac-bush tall-growing with heart-shaped leaves of rich green, With many a pointed blossom rising delicate, with the perfume strong I love,
With every leaf a miracle – and from this bush in the dooryard,
With delicate-color'd blossoms and heart-shaped leaves of rich green,
A sprig with its flower I break.

Green Grow The Lilacs

An adaptation of an English folk song.It was popular during the Mexican-American war and gave origin to the term "Gringo" i.e. "Greengrow" because U.S. soldiers were always singing it.There are many additional verses.
Such as:
"I pass my love's window both early and late,
the look that she gives me would make your heart ache.
Oh,the look that she gives me it's painful to see:
My love loves another, far better than me."

Beauty is a fairy;
Sometimes she hides herself in a flower-cup,
or under a leaf,
or creeps into old ivy,
and plays hide -and -seek
with the sunbeams,
or haunts some ruined spot,
or laughs out of a bright young face.
