I wonder if you have anxiety attacks where you wake up and can't go back to sleep. If that's the case, part of it is stress, so maybe starting a little workout routine, and the other is what you're eating or drinking--caffinated beverages too late in the day, too many carbs, too much sugar, drinking enough water? I had a problem like that for years. I'd wake up at 04:00 and watch Gilad(or whatever his name is in Hawaii) and do exercises. I'd be so tired, ready to go back to sleep, and not enough time, but a little sleep. Diet is so key...and how you handle all the rest....good luck! I take supplements, and I won't bore you with those details as I'm sure lots of people aren't interested, but you have to do what works for you, and it's a process of elimination(and I'm not talking about peeing here)...
I started not being able to sleep in my 50's. No rhyme or reason why. Probably had something to do with getting older. Benadryl is one of the good standbys but I'm sure there are some negative reports on that. I try not to use something every night and some nights I do drift off BUT I've never gotten over 4 straight hours of sleep. I'm not excessively tired during the day but I always hear that not sleeping is bad for you physically. What to do, what to do . . . . .

Ok . This may sound strange, but .. Lay your head where you feet are supposed to be and you feet where your head is supposed to be . In other words .. 180 degrees. works for me .
