It is so frustrating most of the members IM is either switched off or blocked because of address, region.
It makes me feel like giving up my membership here. After all, when love meet loves, there's no fonteirs
Maybe it would be a good idea to be able to accept or ignore an IM.Instead of setting thsat in the profile settings.

Also, when am IM comes in,could you guys make it pop up. When you you have many windows open you are more then once too late to answer it.

Thanks for looking into this

I have mine turned off because when someone sends me an IM request, it just opens on its own, I have no choice in accepting or rejecting.
I think it is good manners to ask before IM anyway.

I keep my IM turned off becuase it was just too many IM's coming in. And the majority were men hoping to see me naked or scammers. If i get an email from someone I like then I IM with them.

Also...refusing an IM will also lead to various rude emails. So i for one would vote to keep the IM off as a feature.

IM is abused on dating sites too much to worry about. I don't enjoy IM'ing with someone I don't know and have little interest.

Me too but frankly I don't want IMs from people I don't know. I'm realistic too. I'm a balding middle aged man. Why would 22 year old glamour models be IMing me and that's what was happening.

And if the IM setup is enough to make someone leave the site, I don't hold out much hope for them forming a partnership anyway. It's throwing the rattle out of the pram.

Yeah me too. Before I turned it off total strangers would IM me saying stuff like "Guess who I am?" (Yawn, yawn, do I care?)

I even had one in Portugal email me asking why it I had turned my IM off and when I explained, he disappeared. But he views my profile every couple of weeks and although it states in my profile that my IM is turned off, he keeps IMing me every so often.

What IS that? Why does he do that instead of emailing like a normal person? Perhaps I ought to block him? He's turning into something of a cyber-stalker... creepy!

Me too, my IM is permanetly turned off and is stated in the heading of my profile, yet there is someone in Australia who keeps attempting to IM me. I wrote to him to warn him but he ignores my message and keeps doing it. I will NOT turn it back on. Like you said, what is wrong with sending an emal? I wish we could block someone from their profile. I wrote to someone to inform him not to waste his time and keep IMing me, he writes back to me, insults me and blocks me. Too many cyber stalkers attempting to IM us.

Why do you want to IM anyone? Why can't you send an email? The IM is turned off because we don't want to be IMed. Do you understand? We don't want to be bothered with IMs. You don't know her.

Like me, I say in my profile and also in the heading, that no IM chats, send an email instead, so if you attempt several times that tells me a lot about you, that you didn't read my profile and I want nothing to do with you.

I totally agree with this member. It is so frustrating when you want to chat with someone and find out that their IM is blocked. Why are we all here after all? Not to communicate with each other and perhaps find our love?

So, thanks for the enlarged message, not all of us are blind!

Why do you specifically need the IM for? Email works does it not?

I completely agree it's only good manners to email first rather than assuming anyone will want to chat to a complete stranger.
The fact that you have NO IDEA who is IM ing you is a huge drawback.
Having said that, with the right person, IM is great grin
