There has always been persistent opposition to the poor or "blue-collar" hard working people trying to get ahead. If you work double shifts six days a week, you are taxed right back down to where you would have been anyway. If you try to get out of a job "rut", the employer can't see past the fact that you are a "x" type worker, and is resistant to give you a chance. It's really, really hard to get up off the lower-class shelf. Not impossible, but very, very hard. It's as if the upper middle class and rich don't want you to. Here's a few examples--say you are working your way through college. You lose your job. Your classes conflict with a job offer the employment office calls you about. You can't do both. If you stay in college, unemployment denies your claim. If you take the job, you can't finish college (or trade school, or whatever) and move ahead. These hurdles are in the thousands. Catch 22's. And yet, some do actually make it. Generally, there are so many factors going against the average working man. Tougher than nails to get out of poverty.------ This thread is Locked ------
