I'm sitting here listening to "mr soul" Neil young, of course. I don't think Neil can be covered better. Your thoughts anyone. Sort of hijacked you here felix, but imitation IS the highest form of flattery. Well, that and I like your new hair. lol

The originals are aways better, especially for those people who were fortunate enough to be born during a time when remakes and sampling wasn't so big.
Mom and i are trying to get my brother into some of those classics that are truely timeless.

thank you. I actually have new, new hair. It's longer now, but I do not have a new photo yet!!!
You haven't hijacked me, or at least I don't think of it that way!!! It's a great idea. Artists who cannot be covered - bot that's a tough one.
You know on my own thread about covers I posted Smashing Pumpkins covering velvet unverground on venus in furs, and do you know I think velvet was better
so I'd vote for velvet underground (tho I will say the chili peppers covered venus in furs pretty well - actually it was dave navarro - prob better known from jane's addiction) anyway, tho very good - it wasn't velvet
Of course Van Halen cannot be covered - almost didn't mention cuz it goes w/out saying

Absolutely wrong........ Nivana tried to do what Neil does best..... grunge.... and they never came close.
As one of the biggest NY fans I can honestly say it makes me feel glad that people try to cover this guys work.....
However.... he will always move on, will always forge his own way in life, for others to copy.... that's the sign of a true artist.............. being yourself, for others to follow. !

yes I love Neil Young's early stuff - Harvest, After The Goldrush. Nothing better than Cinnamon Girl, Down By The River, and here's my fav from Neil

Then try "Dead man" the cover song to the film by Jim Jarmusch, starring Jonny Depp and with words by William Blake................. now that is not old stuff.... Contemporary, and something the younger bands will not only find hard to follow, but will never have the opportunity..... coz they don't make the grade.

Nirvana is credited w/ creating the grunge "movement". Though i think Neil Young is someone that artists and fans look up too and truely appreciate. I wouldn't just use his music for back ground noise, you need to enjoy listening to it.

It's really good. Though I guess I wouldn't call it grunge, though this is just me being picky. I hear this sound as being more psychedelic country with a twist. As if Niel Young was creating his own genera all together.

JMHO
I will to it - I have a couple other things on my plate at the moment but thanks - I love a good tip!

Like Johnny Cash, the man is irreplacable.
Your taste in music is way beyond your years and your ability to "hear it" is spot on

I'm not sure I follow your' absolutely wrong.? I love Nervana Unplugged. Cobain was a great writer, second only to Young perhaps. (bold statement, I know) "Grama, take me home" never will be covered better. Neil says some rather surprising things about Cobain in his bio.

these are some good observations. But I do think neil made his contribution the style of guitar
