I am a college student and am taking a research methods class. Mart of that class is to do a research paper. I am interested in finding out if birth order affects the amount of attention a child receives. By attention I mean things like attending school or extracurricular activities, taking on outings, and things of that nature. If you could take a few moments to answer my questions I would greatly appreciate it. Even if you do not wish to answer all of the questions, answering most of them will still help. If you choose not to answer it will not affect your relationship with anyone involved.

My questions are:

Gender:

Age when you had first child:

Age when you had second:

Gender of first:

Gender of second:

On average, do you spend more time attending events for your first or second child:

If you do not wish to post the answers here, you may also email them to me. Thank you for your time.

Of course, as a teacher I´d like to contribute.

Female
20
21
Girl
Boy
Equal

It was a long long time ago however!

I think the fact that my two children are close in age made it easier. I also think having only two makes a huge difference.

Good luck with your project.

.... more financial and time with second but age difference has been like having only children twice and I would say they received equal attention ...

Hi Lyn.....

I am a Mother of 3....

Eldest a girl 28.....I had her when I was 19

Middle a Boy 20.....I had him when I was 27

Youngest a girl 13......I had her when I was 34

I guess when you balance it all out they all got equal time at events...when you analyse it you cant really say one got more than the other...but they may possibly view it differently..

You have to take into consideration here how comfortable you were at each time....eg...whether you had a car or not to transport them easily around....whether or not you had the funds available to support such events....and other factors like this..

Hope this helps in your research....wave

On average, do you spend more time attending events for your first or other children: No. I feel closer to the eldest because her personality has developed more, but I expect that will happen with the others as they get a bit older.

Good luck!

If the population you are targeting is the one from dating sites, than the forums won't be a representative source for several reasons: not everyone on the dating site is on the forums, people who are on them will choose to be or not to be part of it, and with that the statistics that you get will not really be accurate for the whole population.

Try a group that is more reachable, like a work place environment or a specific profession. Hope it helps and good luck wave

Birth order makes a difference. I'm No. 5 in a family of 8. You can learn a lot by observing those in front of you in terms of not making their mistakes and learning from the good things they did. The eldest one has it the toughest imo.
