I had a job offer, come to visit for a week and moved 10 weeks later, best thing I ever did.
Never moved anywhere wish i could do that

I was travelling and teaching, Poland, Portugal, Turkey, Russia, and ended up in Spain with a contract for a year. I fell in love with the country, actually as soon as I arrived, and a man shortly after so I decided to settle.
The man was a machista hound in the end
but by the time I realised and had made great Spanish friends who helped me oust him from my life, I was smitten with the life here.markizamkd25: Never moved anywhere wish i could do that

OK, long story but bear with me:
Daughter decides to emigrate with family to Australia so I said I would join her. Plan was to put both our homes up for sale, she got pregnant again so wasn't going anywhere fast and mine sold in 8 weeks. Could be a long time before another buyer came along so I sold out and decided to move here since I'd been on holiday a few times and liked it.
Didn't know a soul when I arrived but been here nearly 5 years now and wouldn't move back to UK, I love it here.
Daughter still in UK but now talking about Canada so who knows where I'll be in a few years time. I don't make plans anymore, just take each day as it comes.

My brother moved to Africa, my cousin went to live in Portugal. I was retired.
There was no reason for me to stay in rainy, windy, cold, snowy Belgium. I moved to sunny Cyprus a year ago and I love it.
I didn't know anybody here and I don't speak Greek, but people are very nice and friendly so I had no problems to feel home very quickly.

I came to Spain from UK in 1995. Back then I was a Professional Magician - Yeah, big illusions and floating women in the air - all that stuff... - After many successful years in UK, my G/F (who was also my partner in the act) and I were going to take the coast by storm.
We came, she hated it and went back - leaving me stranded here. The magic dried up (it can take many months to train up another partner) and I kinda stayed on...

I wanted to change the country because everything was too familiar to me in mine....
I can't remember were I was born, I had too much tomatoe juice the last 40 years.
