UK_LYN: i moved to malta as that was where my partner came from, thought it would be good for our son to spend more time with his maltese family. Partner decided it would be better for him to have maltese girlfriend. Love malta, hate my situation, want to go back home

So why don't you go home? Sounds like you're not married, so there's no legal way this guy can keep you in Malta. Don't discuss it with him, don't mention it to anyone. Just buy the tickets and bog off back to the UK.

Apart from the guy-being-a-pillock thing, what's the problem?

No offence meant - just asking...

will be checking out legal implications of going home during a visit to the UK. I also need to make sure whatever i do is going to benefit my son as he has a large maltese family that he loves dearly and the recession in UK means we could face different hardships there.

Thanks for asking

I'm sure you will be able to find a job back in the UK if that is what you mean by the recession. I'm currently looking for work back in the Uk, have already 'lost' one interview because of the volcanic ash. There's plenty of work in the areas that I am looking in.

I know what you mean by the Maltese family thinking he can do wrong, I have a friend who is married to a Maltese man.

I moved here to Spain with a man, it was what we both wanted. However, the work he had lined up (here and the UK) was affected by the recession. Because of things that happened, he decided to go back to the Uk, but didn't include me in that decision. I do love the weather here, and the laid back attitude, but I lack friends of the same age, and there are no jobs here.

hug to you Lyn.

to you Lyn.

I moved to the UK with my Maltese ex in 2005. Five years later due to the live to work attitude in the UK the relationship had disintegrated. I was made redundant, came on holiday to malta and he didn't want me to go back so I stayed in malta. However, there isn't a day when I don't think of going back to the UK. Haven't closed the door yet. The UK has a lot going for it.
