Looks aren't the main attraction for me, although there has to be a spark. But a good heart does it fot me.

Physical appearance is important. But attraction to a person is more than that. The mannerisms, the behaviour, the attitudes etc. all combine to make a person attractive. Setting limitations based on what one 'believes' one wants blinds one to a multitude of possibilities.
We may find individuals presented in the media attractive, but that level of desire is purely physical and away from the stylists these individuals may not warrant a second glance on the street.
Sometimes the small physical flaws can make someone quite cute.

This, to me, is a great limitation of online dating in general-- there is so much more to attraction than what you can see in a photo.
Some people that I find very attractive in real life are ill-represented by photos. I mean, I already know them; so I know how wonderful they are. But I also know how they move, how they laugh, the faces they make when they're telling a story or w/e.... photos can't deliver that. So I try to "hear" the person behind the posts/profile.... and not put too much weight on the photo itself (or the lack of one), keeping in mind how limited a view that really is.

I agree, we seemed so focused on the outside we neglect to see the person for who they are on the inside. I've noticed that the getting to know you phase doesn't seem to exist either. It's let's jump into bed first then maybe we can get to know each other.
